Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

As some of you are aware, this started as an 80K bonus for a few days, and then rose to 110K bonus, under the referral link. I called AMEX and said that I didn't think it quite fair that early adopters should be penalised as many many more people signed up under the 110K bonus.

AMEX apparently agreed as they have said that they will provide me with the extra 30K points. So, anyone else who got the original 80K ... go for it and let us know how you go.

Tempting, but given those with an Amex already shouldnt have got any points, I'd be careful about pushing for more.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

This new card credit limit was adjusted by AMEX to take account of my other direct AMEX card. So, they are well aware of the 2 cards and volunteered the points so I think it's going to be OK.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Does anyone know if you need to sign up for a Velocity account separately to transfer the bonus points to? Or does the credit card come with it's own Velocity account? Cheers

You just open a VA account first and then provide that VA number to AMEX. It's free.

Thanks!!!

To share my experience, I applied for the card right after getting approved for a mortgage. Application was not approved immediately but I got the card in the mail 5 days later. Received the 110k bonus points after $500 spend.

My Velocity Platinum Credit Card has my Velocity Number printed on it. I'm thinking your credit card could be used to access Virgin Lounges?

Hi mzt, did you get an email confirming you were approved before getting the card in the mail or did it just show up?

I applied on a Saturday, got the approval email on Wed and the card arrived on Friday :)

I just got my card today. I got the letter saying my existing Engineers Australia Amex gold had been taken into account in setting my limit. Hopefully like others the bonus points still come through. If all goes well this will help me fly J to Japan with SQ early next year :D

Hey guys quick question and apologies if this has been asked/answered before.

Got the card a couple of weeks ago and have spent about $280 so far. Will easily hit the 1K mark this month and will wait for the 110K in points. The question I have is that I have generated points through normal spend and although it shows in my transactions when do these points actually get credited to velocity? Is it monthly? TIA

Yes monthly.

Edit: "The points will sweep to your account approximately 5-6 days BEFORE your statement cycle date."

Thanks. I applied last Wednesday, got referred, hadn't heard anything but got the card in the mail yesterday

Yes monthly. Once your statement period is over the points will automatically sweep over to your velocity account.

Awesome - Thanks davel!

Is the billing cycle usually the 15th of the month?
