Was there a sign on bonus on that Citi card too? Most people wait at least 9 months to cancel.

just checking cos i closed a citibank card recently and they refunded me the annual fee pro rata. cheers

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Just booked my reward flights on SQ thanks to this card bonus. Timeline for those interested:
-Applied/accepted - 22 July
-Card received/activated - 26 July
-$1000k spend met -26 July
-110,000 bonus points credited to Amex -27 July
-All points swept to Velocity -8 August
-Amex statement date -13 August

Converted myself and the missus' bonus points to Krisflyer and have booked SYD-SIN-ZUR on 77W and A388. The $937 in YQ/charges almost had me choosing the Velocity option which was EY 787 Business studio from BNE-AUH-IST. Hope I made the right choice!

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Many thanks to all of you that have shared your knowledge by posting on this thread. I have been reading the forums hear for some time, but haven't really had much to add on what others have already posted. I have taken the plunge and applied for this card - I was initially put off as I previously cashed in on the NAB 40000 pt bonus in Dec, and thought I wouldn't qualify for the points based on that. So thank you one and all for sharing your experiences and helping me get this bonus, cudos to you all :-)

Total points transferred; 114,824

Not bad for $349.00

How hard is it to book the free flight, and is the lounge passes only for me or can you give them to someone; since I am already Virgin Gold.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

I have this card from a 60K bonus offer in Jan - was intending to book a free flt then cancel and reapply late Sept and hopefully scoop another 100K - your not going to spoil my party are you zainman? :D

Yes denied the 110k points but I will still wait for the second months statement. Let's see what happens but not hopeful.

How long do the points take to show up in your Velocity account after they have been auto transferred from AMEX?

Can see online that points were transferred on the 17th but can't see them in the account when I logged in this morning.

edit: Likewise - 24hrs from Amex auto sweep (5 days before statement date) to showing in Velocity. Velocity to Krisflyer transfer is instant which is good :)

Mine (Partner's card) is 24 hours, same as blackcat20. I got them around midday so you can try check later today.

Does anyone know if there is any flexibility in the "return" part of the free flight? Mrsdoctau and I need to go down to Tassie later this year and an open jaw into HBA and out of LST for one of us, or two one ways and booking return ourselves would be more useful. If not, I'll find somewhere else to use it later.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Very interested in this deal. Has anyone else had experience with or knows someone who cancelled a card in the last few months and has managed to redeem the bonus points?
i had the Velocity Escape Card.

I cancelled my Platinum Edge in April and received the bonus points. There's a number of comments in the referral thread; I think there was only one instance reported that someone didn't get the bonus.

No- this is one thing theyre very strict on - it must be a standard return

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

A question in relation to the free flight. How soon after you have Activated your card can you book the free flight. Asking for a friend who is looking at taking up the offer and believes its a 12 month wait. I'm sure that can't be correct.

All good. I see it's after first spend. Think my friend was just confused by the terms and conditions.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

I referred my wife.
She didn't receive immediate approval, assume as she was 2 weeks into a new job.
20k referral points reflected in my account.
She received a letter saying the card is delayed, but will come...soon.
A statement arrives with the Annual Fee on it for a card not yet received, activated or able to be used (at least we know the last 4 digits of it now from the statement though!)
Hope it arrives in time to spend the $1000! (they have given a 10 day extension on the spend period, even though the statement date is from 20 July....so nearly 5 weeks and counting)
Am sure SQ suites will make it all wortwhile
