I dont even see any status credits offered! this one is probably better for someone not wanting the whopping $349 PY and needing Scs

I received an offer in the post today from Virgin for the Amex Velocity Platinum card. It contains much the same as what's on the website, with the addition of 75 SCs (and have to be approved by 30 June 2012).
$349 annual fee is pretty step though... I'm also considering the Virgin Flyer cards, but not really sold at this stage.
Thanks for the musings, Moopere, it's given me some food for thought.

200 SC once you spend $500 within 3 months
1.5 Velocity points per $1 spend......3 V points per $1 spend with VA
Complimentary return Dom flight per year
2 for 1 J fares for international LH on VA
Two passes to VA lounge each year
0%pa interest rate for the first 6 months

Strictly speaking it is not an MR card but linked to Velocity so one would think it doesn't, but who actually knows?

Wow, that's really interesting. I'm wondering if the SC offered is dependent on your Velocity status, as it seems otherwise identical.

I'm Silver & the offer is 75 SC.. guessing your offer may be based on Plat or Gold status?

Maybe, I'm a matched Plat.....interestingly, I haven't travelled with VA since being matched........I posted the offer here (post No 92) http://www.australianfrequentflyer....uble-sc-promo-already-37947-3.html#post584342

In all my time with QF (member since 96 & WP/WP+ for 7 years) I've never received any SC offers. In the last week with VA I've received this CC & double SC offer.

TBF, QF did gift me WP one year when I failed to clock up sufficient flights.

I applied and was approved for an AMEX Velocity Gold CC 2 weeks ago - I didnt receive an offer but just applied anyway.

I had no idea about bonus SCs offer - the 50 bonus would be extremely handy as I am currently silver VA and may just miss out on renewal as I dont have any flying for the next few months (Im 15 SC short).

I dont think I was targeted but is it worth ringing them up and asking them to give me the SCs? Even if they only gave me 20 it would be a big help!

Didn't work with the BP offer for me - when I phoned the call centre they said it was excluded. Have tried to activate the AAMI offer but don't seem to have had any luck (but won't know for sure until I have paid my CTP sometime in the next month).

At the risk of sounding like a broken record one of the 'touted' features of this card is 2 for 1 flexi fares.

Has anybody here actually availed themselves of this feature to purchase 2 x long haul J fares - like to LAX?

The application from has a series of code printed in the "office use only box" bottom right hand corner - so it's probably targeted.

The letter quotes a web site - velocityamex.com.au/200velocity & a phone No 1300 365 147.......could be worth a try.

I was status matched Gold last year. Got the Amex Platinum offer just after retaining Gold for another year.

If I could go somewhere better or actually fly someone from another capital city to Perth I would apply. I've already been to Karratha, Newman and Port Hedland for work and would never go there for pleasure. And I don't want to go to Broome by myself every year!

EDIT: I should just scrape through re-qualifying for Gold again in the next 12 months and Platinum is out of reach for me at this stage so the status won't really go anywhere either.
