Amount of Qantas Points in Your Acccount

Between my wife and I we have about a million.

In large part this is due to QFF being such a poor program to redeem in.

Though it has also helped the balance that over the last year that so many sign on QFF points has been thrown at us. So even though it is not my ff program of choice I still pick up the points.

I am using some already redeemed to get back from Africa in j for 2 this year.

Will look to book 2 rtw oneworlds in J eventually.

I dont however see the sense in burning points for the sake of burning.

In addition Amex are not running the bonus point promos like they used to and so my ability to rack up good sums of amex mr points for star alliance redemptions has greatly diminished.

Mr FM and I have around 1m between us at the moment, as we have been doing a fair bit of travel recently, however we are very much in the earn and burn category - have never been a hoarder :)

There was a story a while back (don't have the link) where QF acknowledged some loyal flyer and the flyer's comment was something like "The only valuable frequent flyer points are the ones you have already redeemed."

This year we've burnt > 2,000,000 .. bookings for next year has seen another 500,000 toasted. Current balance is sitting around 1M mark so we'll have no problems doing another 2M burner for 2016.

We've been big redeemers for 10 years ... would be interesting to collate the totally tally.

Folks who own or direct successful ,tax paying business entities have a lot of avenues to harvest points, a few mil points for these folks is easy enough to achieve.
Ordinary wage earners or poverty stricken retirees, have a much harder row to hoe in the accrual game and arguably value the points more highly.
I have lost interest in the game as the rewards (what rewards.. tgh wash out your mouth… ) do not balance the effort…
Currently have nearly 400k and no prospect of spending them intelligently on somewhere I want to go.

Earning and burning about 750,000 a year at the moment. You can't take them with you.....

Sometimes I think I am business for the frequent flyer points. It is the thrill of the chase as various CCs come onboard or drop off the list and yes it is just a game.

I keep around 280K in my QFF account. Have just over 300K now due to recent travel. Combined with Shrek's we have around 7 figures. No ATO earn of any significance. Big stash of points warehoused in Amex. I'm going to try to redeem two x One World Award Tickets in F for our silver wedding anniversary in a few years time. Hopefully it's still around then

We have just under 1M points between Mrs RC and myself. We are looking at 2 F OWA tickets next year. The downside is that I will lose platinum status and mayber her gold status as we will be flying without status earning. :(

One hears some good stories though…
Many years back a business associate did a deal to settle one monthly purchase account on Amex.
In no time flat he had many millions of points..
Amex eventually woke up , had a heart attack , suddenly decided he was a credit risk and refused further business …

That's the beauty of F Award Travel - status is irrelevant :)

No point hoarding unless you have a specific purpose in mind. It's not like they earn interest, and they're constantly being devalued :)

Yes an no... if you're not earning as much as you used to me, like I am, burning them all now seems pointless as I might have a purpose in the future ;)

I have enough to suggest using points when people at work ask for flight tips; only to then be embarrassed when they have 6784 points only.

This year I've burned about 700,000 QFFP, mostly on long haul F and currently sitting on around 1M. I've already transferred all my CCs away from QF to split the points earn but the new Aquire programme seems to offset the loss of points from CCs.
Would love to redeem all my international travel with QF but sometimes taxes are just too high.

I flew a lot with Ansett and had accumulated about 1.7 million points.
I was a life member of the Golden Wings, and even used 200K points in F with United to USA in 2001 when they went under. I
was supposed to fly back on Sept 11, (well that never happened), but as I had already booked I still flew back in F a week later.
So, lost all those Ansett points so now burn about 300K QF points every couple of years.
Hopefully, I won't get caught again but if I do QF won't get me for so many points.

I've burnt about 800k on domestic upgrades in the last 12 months thanks to the Aquire programme. It has allowed me to build my personal QFF points to a high 6 figure balance.

I've burnt about 700k this year (did my first ever 280k J trip to CDG, IST & DXB on CX and loved it). Redeemed about 220k on Jnr#2 joining up with me in CDG onwards. Another 150k ish went on Jnr#2's upcoming return trip to AMS. The rest of the points went on sundry domestic flights. The balance in the account is back down to ~ 410k.

My ideal balance of points is having enough for 2 x 280k trips, plus extra for the changes required when finessing.
