And so the substitute Alaska trip begins

That is the classic Hayman Island photo. it looks wonderful.
Oh, your visiter is a stone curlew by the look of it.
And why do I get nervous when you go "Mmmm" about a cruise?

The reason for the lack of dining space on Saturday night was because of a large franchisee event. Speaking to one of the crew at the original Hayman pool (which is totally deserted as compared with the pool near our room), they were a happy bunch of thirty somethings who invented new coughtails and drank only the best spirits. All day. They have now departed.

We booked a picnic lunch and transport to Pearl Beach for tomorrow. While waiting for the reservations desk, there was a total tosser being a rude (insert piece of anatomy) to the staff. They have this seabob, a personal device that powers you down when snorkelling. The tosser was telling the staff that they were a rip off (he'd not tried it). When the crew member said he thought it was one of the best things he'd done at the reef, the tosser asked if he had ever flown a plane? WT? Then tosser walked off in a fluff. For some reason.

We joked with the crew when it was our turn and said what we thought of the discussion.

I would love to try seabob but not sure if the ears would cope having had a cold. He told us to come on by on Weds and see if he could swing a special tour for us.

Deserted pool. Plenty of loungers.

$2100 single fare for a 7 night balcony HK to Sin. THAT is why you should get nervous. :p

MrP hasn't windsurfed since he broke his elbow a few years ago.

He's happy.

Fly fishing in paradise.

View attachment 71685

I caught 2 rocks and 2 trees. Catch of the day.

Following my lead.
I love fishing but only rarely catch anything.Tried fly fishing a couple of times and the only thing I caught besides trees and rocks was a very large goanna.Just had to cut the line so that was the end of my fly fishing.
If we meet I will tell you of one of the rare occasions I actually caught fish when no one else was successful.A definite moral to the story.Happened in 1975.

So this happened 40 years ago and you remember it clear as anything. :p. Obviously remarkable.

I love fishing.

I should add. That was MrP fly fishing. In his pink boardies. Not me. I have a very cute little fishing line.

Dame the older and I invite you to join us on QM2 from Singapore to Dubai in early April. What a rollicking good time we would have.

Today we booked transport to take us to sheltered pebble beach for snorkelling. We wanted a four hour trip but only a 3 hour one between 1 and 4pm was available. Oh well. By the time we set off it was 1.30pm
:( then he told us he would collect us at 3.30pm. WT? When we queried he wouldn't budge, said that was the time. Clearly he knocked off at 4pm. Another couple had 5 month old twins - they had organised a baby sitter so they could snorkel but 10 mins before the trip the resort cancelled the babysitter!!! Another WT!

So they were peeved and we were peeved.

The beach was quite pebbly :p. And lots more bitey things in the shallows. Everyone except us wore stinger suits for snorkelling.

It was quite overcast but when the sun broke through it was pretty good. Coral all alive.

We had organised a picnic lunch. It was pleasant and unremarkable. However even the fish didn't want the leftovers.

The sun broke out beautifully just as the boat appeared over the horizon to take us back. He asked how it was - couldn't help myself - and said the sun had finally just come out as he got there. He shrugged it off. Couldn't really give a rats I'd suggest.

This is the seabob to help with snorkelling. Would normally love to do this but ears coupled with predicted poor visibility means we will need to return.

Weather not looking so flash tomorrow.

Have booked the seafood buffet for tomorrow night. It isn't included and costs an additional $75pp. Ouch. But if the breakfast buffet is anything to go by it should be fabulous. Shame I dont really go for seafood but it does include a charcuterie. Plus, it was either that or repeat a visit to one of the other 3 restaurants and we have to repeat one tonight anyway.

The resort really needs a great restaurant and bar for pre and post dinner drinks. It really does not shine in that area.

I think there is more choice of eateries over at Hamilton as it is bigger and consists of a number of different accommodation types. Hopefully you'll have a special restaurant booked for your special day :)
