Looks like another wonderful BAM trip hosted by Matt. So was there a waitress on board the train?

Service was so quick nobody noticed the waiting. :-) QF could take a few notes.

Nothing like the smells & sounds and rocking of an old train. Plus being able to stick your head out the window!!

For those that could not make it - You missed a fabulous, life-time experience - Don't miss it next time!!

Thank you Matt & all the crew that worked for hours to make our day such an amazing adventure.

Thank you for the kind words, it does take a bit of effort but all that is forgotten on the day.

It's the people that made the trip.

Matt

There was even an impromptu crew modelling session in the cab of the loco at "the River", well it wasn't planned by me so assume impromptu.

Beautiful, simply beautiful ...... have a great trip; really wish I could have joined you, but will be riding behind steam (hopefully a Big Boy or maybe a D&RGW K37) this afternoon. Keep the photos coming.

You're a generous man, thank you BAM

From here......in the bar on the BAM.

Just a gorgeous evening.

Looks like a great day out.

What was the final routing / itinerary?

Journey was:
* Central depart close to time, through Strathfield to Northern line
* 30 minute wait near Thornleigh, right outside a business named "RedRoo". Yes, really.
* Through to Gosford. We stayed onboard while 5917 was given a spin on the turntable
* South to Brooklyn. Stop in siding. Eat, drink, be merry. Watch the sunset. Watch lots of freights.
* Leave. Race up the hill in 15 minutes (?? Think it was about that. The trainies were very happy with the pace)
* Back via Hornsby, Epping, Strathfield and to Central at around 2230.

There is clearly an artform to train scheduling. We left with a massively detailed plan that fell apart almost instantly. But we were home on time, and that counts for a bit.

I think that's a first for BAM trips. Previous trips have had some late arrivals into Canberra.

Well we were a little late. But this time we scheduled in an extra hour at Hawkesbury River, so we could afford to arrive late and still get away on time and have 3 hours for dinner. (scheduled time was 4 hours)

All good in the end. But the loco crew insisted I go out for a beer (like I needed more) with them, next time I'll call for volunteers to keep going; I think I'm only just over it now !
