Mine also recently came through two weeks after applying, with an email 1-2 days after it was processed. Last time was less than a week with no email.

Im pretty sure that your 12 months will be from when you started the explorer Gold offer.

Based on my experience (I got this in the previous round of Explore Gold / Flybuys offers), it's at the review date. Have achieved the 80SCs and 1 sector and these have posted to my account but the account still shows as "explore gold". My review date is tomorrow so I expect it to change to proper Gold then...

(That's a good thing though as it means you get a minimum of 15 months of Gold -- the 3 months of explore and then a full 12 months of proper gold after that).

Thanks MattA. That's how I read it too. I agree that it a good thing as it equates to 15 months Gold. However, I have a big trip booked for August. Some miscellaneous domestic travel should cover the 80 SCs prior to that. I was hoping to be on full gold prior to the trip in August as it alone would satisfy the requirements for another 12 months for full gold.

Finally came through tonight 09/06 after applying 20/05. Now to look at best/cheapest status run to get the 80 status credits to maintain the gold. Last year I flew quite a bit with virgin and Air NZ but still retained lowly red so looking forward to comparing it to QClub.

It deducted 73 status credits off me though and my last flight was in late April. Does this mean they somehow skipped my explore gold and put me direct on gold deducting the 73 status credits to do so?

I will be flying again in a month anyway so I was hoping to get 3 months + 12 months but oh wells it was free I guess. Not sure if this happened to anyone else.

I thought it was 80 status credits to maintain gold after explore gold so kind of explains where my 73 status credits went. This is my first time on this explore gold thing so I'm not sure how it works. Public holiday today so no cards yet but logging on checks out.

First time for me as well but I'm not sure if the 73 that were deducted from yours has anything to do with the 80 needed to attain full gold. I had about 150 deducted from mine and I have noted that others have mentioned having varying amounts deducted during the same process.

When you log into your Velocity account what does it mention in the Maintain Explore Gold or Maintain Gold section under My Account? Mine is showing the 20 SCs that I have earned in the last week with 60 additional required to maintain Gold by the 3 month review date.

Hmm you are right it says explore gold instead of on the statement.

Well 80 is easy for me I'm off to EU again next month. Hmm looks like the 73 status credits just disappeared.

Yes, that is showing exactly the same as mine.

I'm not sure what criteria they use to deduct the status credits when Explore Gold is approved. Seems to be quite random but I'm sure there is a method to it.

Just an update regarding the card. I received mine in the mail today. So only a week since approval.

Like others, my application on 21st May took took near three weeks to be processed. Email confirmation on the 11th June with a 9th June effective date. Now to book some flights!

I bet (well I know as a family member took this up) this has been done as a status review - check the account activity. As with all status reviews the status credit count is reset to zero. Those who are reporting lost status credits - bad news don't expect them back.

They might be lost from the counter to reach gold as you have a new target (80 SC in 3 months) but they should still be there for the counter to reach 1000 SC for platinum.

correct, of course. there are 2 counters and they should still be in the previous 12 months counter which is about qualification for the next level.
It's very confusing.
