Anti-Suitism - how to stop the discrimination???

I try to avoid wearing suits when travelling but when I go for day trip client visits there is no way around it. I don't really care what people wear as long as they are polite and don't intrude too much, like the guy in the J lounge last week shouting in his mobile in German which was very annoying.

<snip> like the guy in the J lounge last week shouting in his mobile in German which was very annoying.

I had a wonderful experience catching the evening departure bus from Daejeon to Seoul, travelling with a German work colleague. She proceeded to talk business on the phone to her team in Germany for the entire trip, even when the lights were switched off (meaning snooze time).

Even though all the people around us moved to different sections of the bus, she was oblivious to anything apart from her own small world. Thankfully I was wearing a kevlar vest, otherwise all the dagger looks thrown at me would have had me torn to shreds in no time.... :(

I'm far more annoyed by women with oversized handbags than suits. I mean really....does a trip to the shops warrant a bag that looks like it should be on the back of a Sherpa? And yes, I just know you are going to push in front of me in line and then rummage around in that tardis for the next 6mins trying to find your coin purse. Let's be honest here and admit that your items would be easier to find if they are not loose in the bottom of Santas sack.

I think we need an anti-everything thread....

Nothing wrong with suits in a formal occasion, I feel sorry for those who have to wear them for work.

It's only pretty old school companies that still have suit and tie... A dying breed!

Don't have to but I choose to wear one, I just love nice suits - ties can get a bit uncomfortable, but it's worth it cause they look nice.

I'm pretty old fashioned in that sense, but a modernist when it comes to the type of suit. I am also a fan of cufflinks, tie bars, and immaculately polished shoes

mmm should I get some pocket squares?

At my company (which we formed in 2007), the three owners (which include me) decided to call ourselves "relaxed professionals", so when at work but not seeing clients, we can wear corporate polo shirts (with smark casual slacks - jeans only allowed on Fridays if not seeing clients). Otherwise, days seeing cients are ties. Suits for meetings with corporate clients or investment manager lunches/seminars.

I've never seen the class differences rear it's ugly head in a QP, but as I'm about to go to BNE now (to catch up with an AFF member in transit), I'll pop my head into the Business Lounge to see if I get a comment (I'm in my corporate polo shirt today :o)

From a females perspective most men look great in suits! Nothing nicer than a beautifully cut suit, nice tie and shirt, tasteful cufflinks and polished shoes.

So for those of you wanting to impress the ladies (well me anyway) the above does the trick every time!

Cheers

Timmi

Hmmm, i guess the ladies will all just have to remain disappointed with me as comfort and practicality should come first i think... A lesson one or two females could probably learn with those feet wrecking high heels they get around in...

Currently at 80 pairs of cufflinks and still growing the collection... $500 for a master cufflink cabinet though was a tough pill to swallow...

Polished shoes are an ABSOLUTE MUST, no matter what you are wearing. There is no excuse for unpolished shoes.
