Anti-Suitism - how to stop the discrimination???

I've even given myself a nasty cut on a car door due to a wedding band.
I haven't worn my wedding ring in over 6 years due to being on site.

Really not my area but I might guess the difference is due to what they're trying to achieve in both cases. With a pilot (i assume) you want to add oxygen to the air, and do so by pumping it into the mask. So a *bit* of leakage of contaminant free outside air might not be a problem as most (90+%) of the inhaled volume will come from the proper source. :?:

Whereas a respirator in mining/processing has to filter dirty air full of noxious gases. So a bit of leakage via a lower resistance flow path, compared to the filter, could create more problems.

Edit: easy to agree on factual stuff.

Edit2: just been reminded about positive pressure by PM. My comments here don't apply to positive pressure devices. Do aircraft use positive pressure for pilots?

Oxygen supplied to pilots would be via pressurised tanks thus yes pressurised.

Yes the resporators can't have leakage for noxious gas or toxic particles like asbestos

There is also the issue for mines rescue personnel using closed circuit breathing apparatus, were the used is recirculated, filtered resupplied with some oxygen added.

Sorry to drag the rabble back on topic, but I refute the claim that society is anti-suitist. I think the problem lies in the former class system that divided people into "blue-collar" and "white-collar" demographics. The divisions in attire matched the divisions in education and privilege and there was the expectation that someone in a suit would be more refined, educated and better behaved than someone in overalls.

In this day and age the way we dress is more flexible, but I do think that a suit gives men an additional air of respectability in most people's minds. We are then more offended when a suit-wearing neanderthal grabs the last 10 party pies and then proceeds to swear loudly into his mobile phone whilst shoving the aforementioned pastries into his gob and washing them down with a truckload of Crownies. If it was someone in a high-vis vest who looked as if they caught the mine-cart to the terminal, then we wouldn't blink at such behaviour.

It is sort of like hearing the drunken lout behind you at the footy yell "Break his pucking leg!" and then turning around to find an unshaven person wearing a dog collar of the religious type.
