Anyone Have A Place They Would Like To See But Think They Won't Make It There?

I was thinking last night that I will never get to see St Petersburg :(.

Anyone else have a place they would like to see but think they wont make it there?

Too many to mention! Ok a few then.

Kaliningrad, Pyramiden, Dakar, St Petersburg, Magadan, Patagonia, St Helena, Torshaven, Havana, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Vladivostok, Tuvalu, Guam, and many others…..

Obviously some are now off limits, others due to difficulty of getting to and from, but mostly due to lack of time to see everything!

Tasmania maybe but definately the Gold Coast. :)

Actually I've given up ideas of Mexico and South America and well over the USA. Canada still on the list for Xmas one year. Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland are very low probabilities these days.

I have less years left than almost all of you but I am not yet ready to say never.
Almost anywhere is doable, it's just the cost and the hassle.
In terms of remote places, suspect that I won't make it to Easter Island but still hold hope for other places on my list.

What is the attraction of StPierre Cossie ?
We spent a week there one day…...

So close to Canada, but still French (Quebec doesn’t count). Just one of those anomalies that intrigue me!

What did you do there for a week?

We had a cruise booked for May 2020 from London to St Petersburg and return .
It wasn't actually covid that caused the cancellation.
However I doubt we will get there now

Sharpen up mate… I said I was there for a day that seemed like a week..
The destination happened at the last minute after L'anse au meadows was deleted due to weather.
P'rhaps I was in a negative frame of mind as I was coughped off at missing t'other port but it was pretty ordinary ….although the ship was moored out in the boonies and I had a lovely walk in a bit of coastal wilderness nearby.

I have a loooooooong list of countries I wanted to see and worked (up until Covid) to get to them, 70+ so far.

There are some I have never really had any intention of visiting (not relevant to list here).

Given up on...
..Nepal (altitude sickness)
..Iran (Taliban)

Doubtful due to age, politics etc and realistic remaining time available

..Myanmar
..Mongolia
..Madagascar
..Poland
..Sri Lanka
..Syria
..the central "Stans"
..Ukraine
..Venezuela

I have a substantial list that I haven't given up on yet and still muddling over where and how many in 2024. Its now down to the usual - prioritising, relative time available, $$$ and hassle.

It would seem I didn’t really read what you posted! Just glanced at it. I really should pay more attention, so I have no excuses… Should have been more diligent in my initial reading of your post, suitably chastised….. :)

I would still like to go there….

Two full days in St Petersburg was fabulous. The museums are amazing and a couple orthodox churches plus a visit to some of the metro underground stations and a ride on the hydrofoil to Peterhof .

Alas, probably none of it on the near horizon for new foreign visitors given the current political situation.
