I got the card, but for the bonus points. I see no reason too keep it after the first free year is up. I will just get the 75,000 points, transfer them to Velocity and then cancel the card. There is nothing that would make this one worth the annual fee. At least with my Amex Platinum Velocity I get a free flight for an extra holiday and the points. Living in Perth, that flight is worth more than the annual fee.
Would be better to get PriorityPass if you are after the lounge access. Or get the Westpac Amex Black and you get it for free including 2 free visits per year.

I believe someone tried this further back in the thread. The rejection was along the lines of needing to have the PAX's name on the card. I've contemplated getting a companion card for my mrs as, presumably, it would then work, because her name would be on the card.

Not sure if I'll get around to it in the end though, never enough time and I won't be renewing after the first year 'free' as the annual fee is a bit laughable given the real-world benefits.

You don't actually need the pax's name. I tried it at Changi Airport and it work if you scan one Amex for yourself and one Visa for your partner.

I tried to use this card to get into the Houston Intercontinental (IAH), Terminal D, Texas - KLM Crown Lounge and was refused. The lady said they never had many people use these cards so they stopped accepting it. I then said it was part of the Veloce program and got a blank look. Wasn't too bothered as I used my Priority Pass card to get in anyway (as a paid visit as I had used my 2 complimentary visits earlier this year) - the lounge was not worth the charge, but still better than being in the terminal gate lounge...

Seems like this card is a bit of a joke when it comes to lounge access. Or the entire Veloce program for that matter, at least when I am looking at parts of the world that I am travelling to. It will do nothing for me for my upcoming trips for the coming year and I will be going through about 14 airports. Out of those 1 has lounge access and that is Changi and as far as I know the two on offer are no hit anyway.

I used a couple of lounges on offer on a recent trip and left unimpressed.
Will definitely be cancelling my ANZ black card before the free 12 months is up.

The only lounge that was good was the AMEX lounge in Sydney.

Will stick to priority pass & their offerings

Ah, I completely forgot that this card comes in two different versions I have the ANZ Rewards Black as I do Velocity FF and not Qantas points.

You are not missing out on anything, thats for sure. So far I am to find a lounge where this card works. A lot of *temporary unavailable* on the Veloce website.

Tried this card at Heathrow and Manila this fortnight. Still able to access the Swissport lounge in Terminal 3 at Heathrow, but this lounge was dirty and well worn out, and unable to access the Sky View lounge at NAIA Terminal 3 as they don't accept Veloce memberships anymore.

I recall that the China Airlines lounge in Hong Kong was listed as a complimentary lounge, I didn't have time to check it out but this lounge may now be the Skyteam lounge?

Amsterdam Schiphol - Menzies/Aspire 41 Lounge - Jan 2017 Access Granted

Used the card for lounge access in Amsterdam Schiphol yesterday (International side, not schengen). The list mentions the Menzies Lounge, which is in fact the Aspire 41 Lounge near to the D Gates. Great lounge, good choice of snacks, drinks and plentiful seating overlooking the apron. No issue with the ANZ card, she swiped it through a few different machines until one of them granted access.
