My ANZ Black was sent on Monday.

This is the 2nd card I've shifted off QFF earning in a month.

Earning is average... but the card has no annual fee if your plat card doesn't ;)

putting in my post to get the updates. I may consider this card although seems to have few advantages over the WBC black ones.

and apologies if someone has pointed this out before:

  • 10,000 Reward Point Loyalty Bonus[SUP]5[/SUP] when you make at least $50,000 of qualifying purchases on your account in the first year.

Am I reading this right.

ANZ Black Card

Can buy or pay anywhere with it for points (like tax)?
Can a transfer points to CX?
If already have ANZ platinum no extra cost?
Get 40000 points on sign up?

Do you mean ANZ has some advantages over WBC, as written? Context seems to suggest you mean disadvantages!

What advantages/disadvantages?

In respect of tax, from the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use:

Using the credit card account
(3) How you can use the credit card account
(a) The credit card account must be used wholly and exclusively for your private and domestic use.

In other words, not for business expenses! Standard for most cards that are not specifically business cards.

According to the anzrewards.com.au, you can transfer to CX.

In respect of the 40,000 bonus points, from the link you provided:

Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for a new ANZ Rewards Black credit card account by 30 June 2014. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions or when you transfer or close an existing ANZ credit card.

No points if transferred from an existing card (this is pretty standard for most cards).

I was waiting for a sign on bonus before applying for this combo but 40K bonii which i think transfer at 2:1 to KF for cost $375 = .01875/pt - is that correct? Not the best of value IMCAC.

3 ANZ rewards point = 1 SQ point. So effectively, $1 on AMEX earns 1 KF and $1 on VISA earns 0.67 KF.

Are you 100% certain on that? Is there not 3 ANZ Reward Pts / $1 on AMEX? Is transfer rate to KF not 2:1? Does that not mean eff earn 1.5KF pt / $1 spend?

Yes I am sure. You can check anzrewards.com

It is 3 ANZ points per dollar but the ratio is 3 reward points to 1 KF point.

Yes I see that now - so indeed 40K bonii pts for $375 eff cost 0.0281 / KF pt - disgraceful when compared to prem cards from other big 4 banks - who would take this up?

My ANZ plat card does.

I was basing my statement on something I saw in the T&C's. Said no points on government charges so I assumed it included ATO. I don't make ATO payments myself so have never experimented.

Anyhow, good news!

I have ANZ rewards Plat with no annual fee, I recently asked to upgrade to Black but was told it wasn't available for upgrades with my package just yet but was under review. Just wondering how you managed trippin_the_rift?

If I can get it for free and it still earns ATO payments will cancel CBA Diamond.

Plus keen to use for lounge access in Europe where Velocity Gold not recognized.

I was told it would be no charge under breakfree.

To be honest I see very little value in the card over Citi but it does give slightly more points for ato transactions going yo velocity

Thanks will try again, I must of tried too soon whilst they were reviewing the eligibility with the Breakfree.

are they allowed to send these cards out unsolicited. I'm not sure if it was cba or anz that sent one to an old address and thank the Lord no one 'activated' it or sold it to crims.

I called the day it was launched, although I had no idea it was the launch day - just good timing!
Also I didn't ask if it was eligible - rather asked for the upgrade and then made them confirm BF would pay for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but with ANZ Black Plat. Rewards Card get 3 points per $1 then get 1000 CX points per $3000 spent?, so $1 = 1 point.

Was at ANZ today asked about the new black rewards card said sure as your already a ANZ Plat your automatically approved, doesn't sound right to me.
