ANZ Platinum, 50k bonus QFF points after $1500 spend, no annual fee first year

Interestingly, I hadn't finished reaching the spend required but I got half the points. Makes no sense...... Let's see what happens with the other half after I meet the remainder of my spend when I start spending in Australian currency again in about a month's time.....

This may have been mentioned, but if you want your Qantas club passes you need to call and ask for them to be sent. It doesn't happen automatically.

Thanks for letting us know N806CR.

I was in a branch today providing my ID and activating the card and asked about the additional 50k bonus if I sign up for the other cards. The girl seemed quite sure that because it is a difference credit card account (not a transfer to a different product) that I would be entitled to the bonus again. I will probably hold off applying for another one until someone here can confirm that they received two bonuses.

Not sure if anyone has posted it yet but she also mentioned that the promotion is now until October.

For anyone who got stuffed around with approval, I lodged a complaint and they approved without asking for any verification.

Hi ozflier,

Unfortunately no credit card insurance has ever covered my pre-existing medical condition (and I'm 33). I tried to extend through Amex with no luck. Haven't tried ANZ but assuming as HSBC and Citibank also would not cover it that there'll be no love through ANZ.

Such a shame!

If it works for you please feel free to re-post as I would love to be wrong!

I'm seeing some interesting results with these cards so far:

Wife's first card (FF Blue) - line item for 50k points in the first printed statement. They haven't hit the QF account yet but should soon I guess. Spend: $3.80 (!)
My first card (FF Blue) - 25k points listed for transfer next statement period on Internet Banking. Similar to others, seem to be half now, half later. Spend: ~$1100

Have only just activated the second lot of cards so I don't know how points will post for those yet.

I'm thinking that once the points are in the QF account (even when we haven't met minimum spend on the card) they can't go back...? I'll probably make sure we do the minimum spend anyway, just to make sure of the T&Cs.

All the approvals so far have been instant :)

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but after I get my points I will call up and ask for my card to be downgraded to the lowest cost card where they have a balance transfer option (they gave me a $32k limit and I have a separate anz card with a $30k limit). Use the balance transfer option to pay into mortgage and save some cash (my other anz credit card is maxed from this balance transfer already).

I love banks and their credit card promotions!

I can see 50k points sitting on the regular card in ANZ's online banking, hopefully they will be swept over at the end of this statement period (didn't hit the $1500 on it in the first statement period).

The Black card is interesting, though. I hit the $1500 on it pretty much immediately, and the $ points that earned have been swept into my QFF account, but there's no 50k bonus apparent in ANZ's online banking.

Once the 50k from the first card has hit my QFF account I might ring them up and ask about the 50k for the Black card. :)

I think ANZ need some improvement on their process
I initially applied for the black, and got rejected as the credit limit they can give me is just under the minimum of $15k
They cannot 'downgrade' my application so I have to do a new application for platinum
After 2 weeks, I got the approved for the platinum and the limit is almost $30k

Things we do to get the 50k bonus

If it were me, I would be having a mild whinge at ANZ about that. Maybe some extra points for wasting your time? ;)

Hey guys,

If I'm an existing ANZ QF credit card holder (i applied 2 years ago when they had the 20k QFF bonus), how do I go about trying to get this deal again? Do I close the account, and reapply? Or Should I apply for a platinum one (will I still get bonus points?)

Thanks in advance.

Try applying for the ANZ Black card, it will also give you the 50,000 QFF points and other benefits like lounge invitations.

Good luck.

Cheers. The platinum might have lower requirements?

is there the alternative in cancelling my current anz qff (basic) and reapplying?

Yes the Platinum has lower requirements, ring them up and see if you can apply but I don't think you can cancel your current card and reapply at such short notice for a new one to gain the 50K sign up bonus.

I believe somewhere in the thread it was best not to cancel and re-apply.

Just rang them for the third time and finally got approved! Hooray!!

Just applied for platinum and approved straight away. Even though ive got the basic one from 2 years ago. Hopefully i get the 50k points!

Just a note to check your points being transferred to Qantas. I have the ANZ black cards, paid 2 bills on Visa (1x$1100 and 1x$850 total $1950) before the end of the statement cycle. However, only 1490 points have been transferred to Qantas FF. Have put through an email to ANZ to ask why the difference and hoping this can be rectified without me having to call them.
Also no sign of the 50K bonus points either. The cynic in me thinks ANZ may take the full 4 months to award bonus points on the Black card to stop members from cancelling card immediately.

I assume that you're aware that the Black Visa earns 0.75points/$

$1950x0.75 = 1462 points.

In any case, I guess you're at no loss (unless you need the points ASAP) due to the $0 annual fee for the first year.
