ANZ QFF Black 75,000 bonus / No Annual Fee First Year/ $7,500 spend in 3 months

just had mine turn up in the mail. Did not get an email saying approved so thought I might have been rejected. I'm not an existing customer so have to go into a branch to do the ID check :(

I was approved for this offer on 22 September and the cards never arrived. After calls to ANZ they were cancelled and reissued. Botton line is they arrived yesterday.

The spend threshold on this offer is $7,500 within three months of being approved. That was always going to be a bit of a stretch for me anyway, but having lost ~35 of the 90 days there's no way I'll make it. Do I:
1. Give up now.
2 Trust the ANZ call centre operator who says there's a note on my file that if I get close to $7,500 they'll still credit the points. He didn't define "close" and I'm not normally inclined to trust a bank.
3. See how I go and then buy a massive amount of gift cards in the last week to make the spend limit? Are gift cards even an eligible purchase?
4. Any other suggestions from the AFF brains trust?

link the amex to paypal and prepay your electricity/water/gas for a few months extra.
top up your myki @ 7-11 via amex
buy your partner a lovely gift it all else fails :)

Drat, I only closed the last ANZ black AMEX in June. I guess they won't give me another one with 75,000 points huh?

About to be the third person in our family to get this pair of cards. Have not used ANZ credit cards for many years after they dropped the ball with their offerings.

I'd be thinking of Mr Frank Lowy in that case.

Costs $4.95 per $995

I'm worried about the T & C '.... offer can be stopped at any time ....'

You're going to have to explain that one legroom, you've lost me completely.

I was slightly cryptic there.

What has F Lowy built up ?

What may cost $4.95 to allow for your AMEX to debit $995 max ?

.....

More fun if you join the dots really

I assume you're referring to XS. With Mr Lowy's empire not yet represented in DRW I'm up for $4.95 + $4.95 postage.

If gift cards are eligible purchases for Amex qualifying spend then Coles gift cards with no fee or Wollies cards from AANT with the 5% discount would provide better value would they not?

and thanks for the Sunday brain teaser. :) Thank goodness for Google.:!:

The Lowy route appeal is that it is widely accepted wherever EFTOS is available whereas others are rather limited in scope.

From Indian curry to 3-hatted restaurant

From a cup of cappuccino to a 5-figure auction item

The one year expiry may deter some, but nevertheless one way to gain quick spend.

Dang, I applied for this card over the weekend and received it today but reading this thread, it seems like I hand't read the T&Cs correctly as it hasn't been 12 months since I closed another ANZ card from last year's offer.

I went into the branch to have the cards activated (I didn't have to but there are so many ANZ branches in Sydney CBD so I just walked in when I saw one) and the guy told me that I'd get the bonus points after the $7500 spend. So hopefully not all is lost...

Good luck. I've seen several reports that the 12 month excursion is being strictly enforced.

But note; the 12 month restriction only applies to certain ANZ cards, not all. Refer to the T & Cs:

where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Rewards Black credit card within the previous twelve months.

As an ANZ NB, I want to be doing the right thing with the Rewards program here.

Cards activated followed by Rewards 'activation' at anzrewards.com

Is that all to it to ensure my 75,000 bonus points get collected before I spend my $7,500 ?

Thought so but would appreciate a Yes vote as different card has different quirk sometimes

Thanks

Show me a card that has a decent bonus points offering that isn't one of these.
