Brains trust

As an ANZ NB, I want to be doing the right thing with the Rewards program here.

Cards activated followed by Rewards 'activation' at anzrewards.com

Is that all to it to ensure my 75,000 bonus points get collected before I spend my $7,500 ?

Thought so but would appreciate a Yes vote as different card has different quirk sometimes

Thanks

This year I applied to the QF card so this doesn't apply to me but from last year when I had the Rewards Black, all I had to do was activate the card (i.e. enable card to get it actually working) then spend any amount (had no $7500 requirement). It took a while but they credited 50k points afterwards without me putting more than $2~300 worth of charges on the card.

So basically if you have activated your card, you should get the 75,000 no matter whether you have activated the rewards - the rewards activate automatically, its just that the website is used to manage your account.

My new cards came with a $15,000 limit so I put one expense on it for a bit over $14,000 so I think I am looking ok for the 75,000 Qantas points.

Yes points earn is 0.667 and 1.5 depending on which card of the duo you use for ATO.
So i gather you applied purely for the bonus then? BTW thought it was 0.75 but must have changed....

Anyone successfully changed from QF to rewards after 75k bonus had posted?

I actually needed to get a few more Qantas points and a 75,000 start to a points chase is really excellent.
Meanwhile Mrscove is close to having an invitation to an unlimited points earning Bankwest CC provided her contact can do it. Her 45 years of loyalty could pay off if this happens.
We seem to be travelling more domestically this year as I have been going to AGMs of various companies. Of course it was nice to go to the Qantas AGM in Perth.....the city parking was $30 and a bit difficult to get.

Switching the ANZ card rewards should be possible but I don't need to do that.
My QCU cc has been running sweetly and I am very pleased to have this card for my purposes. Some months I have to reload the card as it has a $25,000 credit limit.

Does anyone know if payments to the ATO are eligible in this scheme? Wouldn't mind 75k points for paying tax...

Edit: that is to say, eligible to earn the bonus, I'm not so concerned with the regular points.

I hope to swap over once i get the points. I had a chat to them on the phone and they couldnt say if i will get the points or not. I have to ask at the time of activation once i receive my card. That felt a bit strange however given the website is still active i hope it all goes through ok.

25k limit, QCU must have pretty damn strict. IIRC application process was rather unique as well.

I can see the QF conversion rate well enough, but the ANZ Black Rewards card has 3 points per $ with the Amex and 2 points per $ with the Visa. Given the furore with the Citibank Velocity card, can anyone tell me how these ANZ points convert in the velocity program? Thanks

The transfer rate is 2:1 ANZ to Velocity, so effectively 1 pt/$ on Visa 1.5pt/$ on Amex.

It was only recently improved from 2.25:1, so I don't think they're likely to do a Citi and devalue in the immediate future. I'll be draining this month with the 15% bonus anyway.

Thank you, appreciate the information

I too have just jumped on the Black Rewards bandwagon after the Citibank fiasco. Was approved instantly and having never been an ANZ customer happy with that but I know I have a very good credit score.

Hopefullyi I get my cards quickly so I can ensure I get the $7,500 spend quickly to get the bonus points

Just curious to the iPhone users there which ANZ app do you use to go with this card - GoMoney or Grow by ANZ? Any comments or suggestions and this was another huge frustration with Citibank - their app and transactions time are terrible

I applied for & got approved for a QF card after explaining that the Rewards had been a genuine error.

Now I have both.

Plan to cancel the Rewards before the fee hits in 12 months.

You cannot 'switch' as such. A brand new application is required

I use the GoMoney app. I think it needs an update - looks a little long in the tooth and I can see it's scaling to my larger iPhone. Not too fussed - does the job.

Hi All,

I've had a read through the thread but didn't see any body who's indicated how long it's taken them to get the 75,000 bonus points posted.

I'm into my third statement/billing cycle now. Hit the minimum $7,500 in the first month but whilst the spend points went to my QF account, the bonus points haven't appeared.

Does it usually occur after the three month spend period or should it occur when you hit the minimum spend?

Cheers,

Make sure you have a screen capture of the offer

Who knows!

Yes I did that for this exact reason! I'm hoping a simple phone call at the end of this cycle will fix it however. Was just interested if others have encountered problems or get some ideas as to when to expect them to post.
