Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Don'tcha just hate that, got to go thru autp payments again , Only just did all that for new ANZ/Amex card.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Terrible value for the Rewards Black advertised Visa annual fee of $375. Absolutely kidding themselves.

Ive really got to ask how the $65 additional cardholder fee is now justified given $5000 point cap (0.5 velocity / 1ANZ over 5k spend is rubbish - its a 5k points cap IMO).

Also did points previously expire after 3 years? hmmmm

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Out of curiosity, Has anyone successfully bargained down the annual fee with ANZ before?

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Horrendous news. Have just started reaping the rewards, first rewards card in fact, and now the tap turns off! Any suggestions for other decent Velocity earning cards without low points caps? Spend is $15-20K/month + all personal of course.

Putting this into perspective Coles Rewards Mastercard (Flybuys) pays 0.87VFF per $1 unlimited. 62 day card. No international transaction fees. no additional card fee.

Also - 15% BONUS Velocity Points OFFER until 10 March 2017 currently.

$89

Have yet to receive anything from ANZ - found out through AusBT. Not even a whiff on their website, however the wepage for my card no longer shows AMex as an option. The work experience kid didn't do their job well though - proof reading non-existant, still advertising 2 cards  (my bolding):

"With two cards you could earn more rewards and there's no cap to the number of Reward Points you can earn."

^ Above will be the best card for international spend. I will keep my ANZ adventures until August ( will use it this coming May at Japan ), will close it afterwards, Hoping for 60k velocity bonus points + pro rata annual fee refund.

AMEX Platinum Edge 2/3 points $
Citibank Signature: either .66 or .75 VFF per $

This only appeared to be a media release today. Suggest give them a chance to get the mail out done. As nothing has been changed on existing accounts yet, then they have no responsibility to tell you before their media release. Actually reading the details thus far, we get the higher earn rate from now, without the monthly cap. So at worst ANZ has failed to forewarn about an improvement.

suggest wait until all the other banks have positioned themselves for change also. ANZ might not be so bad in comparison.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

If they think they're going to maintain the current Annual Fee levels they're kidding themselves.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I wonder if i can get them to issue me two ANZ QF Black cards to get around this new restriction. Although they may not allow me to have 2 of the same card linked to my QF account.

You should not have a problem I have 2 ANZ QF Black accounts and they both credit to one QF FF account.

It's what they did the last time they pulled this stunt, and actually I seem to remember it's what they did the time before that. The first time I cancelled my ANZ cards was in the early 2000s when they introduced a ridiculous 2500 pts/month cap. Then they did it again about 3 years ago with the Platinum card, and now this time it even includes the Black card. The annual fee wasn't reduced in either of the previous two instances and I bet it won't be this time.

Not as I read it. New applicants from today get the new points regime. Existing cardholders stay on the old points regime until 5/8/17.

That's how I read it as well.

For me, I signed up to the Travel Rewards but also have an AMEX issued AMEX too. I wasn't intending to use the ANZ AMEX but only for the Connect benefits. If I'm spending under $4000 on the VISA per statement, I end up getting ahead with the new point system (my spending on the VISA is not nearly that much). I use the AMEX more often and with Gift Card hording; the change appears to work out better for me.

Like others though, I'm not really too happy to pay $225 for just a VISA with no other options. They'd have to change that as you are getting a fair bit less for your money in the overall package.

Was offered $200 or $250 discount to keep the card when I asked to cancel (annual fee was almost due)

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Well that changes things, looks like i wont be applying for an anz card now...

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I was going to cancel this card only got it for the 75000 Qantas points and would have never paid the over priced annual fee

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Anyone knows whether the $1 to 1.5 QFF for the ANZ AMEX card will continue till Aug 17 when they pull off the card from us?

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Just FYI if you're with ANZ Private Bank they are waiving the annual fee once the AMEX card is dropped.
