Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Anyone knows whether the $1 to 1.5 QFF for the ANZ AMEX card will continue till Aug 17 when they pull off the card from us?

I understand that to be the case. ANZ will be sending letters to affected cardholders advising them of changes etc.

Just FYI if you're with ANZ Private Bank they are waiving the annual fee once the AMEX card is dropped.

I don't think i have been charged the annual fee since moving to the private bank. Either the card fee or $55 rewards fee for crediting to QF. So are you sure that is a new thing?

I was told that they have been charging the fee on the Black card but I haven't ever bothered checking. I asked my banker what the fee would be once AMEX was removed and she initially said the fee would not change but today back-tracked and said that it would be waived for all Private Bank members.

I started on breakfree with the ANZ QF platinum paying the $55 rewards fee. Moved to the ANZ QF Black in Dec 2014. Moved to Private bank in mid 2015. Changed to ANZ Private Black in mid 2016 (retained previous black card numbers, just sent rebranded card)
Im fairly sure i havent been charged the $55 fee since 2015 (or the breakfree package fee either) and i have never paid the $400+ fee for the card. The private bank membership fees have always been charged but nothing specifically for the card.

Were you being charged the $55 fee or the $400+ card fee? Perhaps if you werent also using breakfree you may have still paid the card fees.

Can you please advise what ANZ Private Bank is ?

Its for larger portfolio clients and they have a dedicated banker who has more leeway with things. This is a definition i can give without sounding pompous. I only have access through family members. I certainly dont have a large portfolio.

I've never noticed the card fee but I was told that there is one. The previous Private Bank branded credit cards definitely had no card fee. But I churned away from ANZ Cards (retaining ANZ as my primary bank) and moved to Westpac. I only went back to ANZ because they had Apple Pay support. When I did that, they advised that the Black card had a fee and was not covered by Private Bank. I don't know what break free is but I've never paid a Private Bank fee.

Banking for DYKWIAs.

That's not true. I didn't seek it out. The bank offered it to me 15 years ago and I've never paid anything for it. You can't tell me that if your bank offered you a more personal service, at no extra cost, that you'd refuse it?

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I'm always amused when an airline "enhances" its FF program or a bank its "rewards". It's almost always couched in language suggesting they are "listening to their customers" - yeah, right! The enhancement invariably is in their favour, not ours. It's almost getting to the point where there is no advantage in paying exorbitant fees for so-called rewards cards. If you have two or three cards, the fees can almost buy you a ticket! lol.

Everyone should sign up to ANZ Your Say and on the surveys they send out comment how they dislike this
https://yoursay.anz.com/Portal/default.aspx

I get them regularly and they ask me thing like how my recent experience with anz is and why i rated them such. I know what im going to say in this months response to this.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Everyone should just cancel their ANZ cards ;)

Cancelled yesterday :) I haven't used it for months and the annual fee was due next week. I made sure when they asked why I was closing it I mentioned the loss of the AMEX companion card and overall loss of value. Anyway - next.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Up until this change the ANZ Black FF card has been a pretty good package for me (1) 1.5 points on the amex card (2) 2 lounge passes a year (3) access to Veloce lounges (4) after an invite from ANZ I upgraded to the black card from Platinum for the no extra annual fee.

No amex card and a 1:1 on the Visa spells the end for me. I now have a Bank Australia Visa with 1:1 point earning and no cap as a backup so why have 2 cards the same and pay $295 for the second?

The only issue I have is the international travel booked for the end of August on the amex card and how the travel insurance will be affected. Will that still be valid?

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Would like to know this too...my renewal date in June and my travel internationally is July, so if I don't renew I do not think they will honor the insurance. I have a DJ Amex and will check cover on that and see if I can spend some more to get the insurance

As long as you meet the criteria to activate the policy in the first place, then once the policy is activated it remains active whether you're a card holder or not.
