ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure Card

I'm looking to cancelling this card before the next annual fees are due. But I will still have a flight (booked already) to take after the planned cancellation date. I am assuming that flight booking remains valid - but that I might have some issues with rebooking it, if the borders close again or for some other reason I can't fly.

Any advice for this situation? Or should I just retain the card for another year (with the lesser annual fee now)?
Well, I haven't had the card since June, I think, and have managed to change/rebook my flight through ANZ travel twice since, without question.

Was there a charge? I recall I was advised it was $127 or something close to change?

Also, I received two cards I didn't think I was entitled to. I closed the card in September last year prior to commencing a new membership year.

Nope, I wasn't asked to pay anything.

Mind you I guess I will have to call again next week given what's happened in Perth in the interim since I amended the flights...

I phoned to ask where our lounge passes were up to - probably too late now anyway if they aren't already sent since we're flying Saturday.

But accidentally went through to the wrong department, but while I was there asked about a pro rata refund (because I cancelled maybe a month after annual fee was paid) which was given without fuss. Amazing service!

I didn't even know you could get a pro-rata refund if you cancel mid-way through the year. Who do you need to ask about this (and how do you receive the refund if you've cancelled the card)?

Umm I just asked whoever answered the phone :D

I have a second card with them, they said they'll transfer the balance to that card.

Got my 1st lot of lounge passes today, now if only i didn't have to cancel/change my BNE-PER flight for this weekend a 2nd time!

In my case ticket was SYD-MEL return on 26 FEB , hope they will send out lounge pass next week when SYD lounge open .

She did say that will send out pass when lounge open .
Hi HTG2016
I have passes expiring 31 March 2021 if you have not receive yours as yet?
Happy to swap for yours when you get them. I had flights booked Syd-Perth in Jan 21 but have had to change to Jul 21 now due to obvious reasons.
Cheers

Funny, it was happenings in Victoria that pushed the trip in to the no go zone. I contacted ANZ travel and had a choice of either converting the ticket value in to credit with travel to be completed by original ticketing date (May) or change of date to any flight for free. Moved the travel back 8 weeks and hopefully that will work at the 4th time of asking.

I must say the assistance of the team has been exemplary. I don't expect their patience to run forever and ever, but I have been impressed with the options given to me at each point of disruption (state borders)

Well I'm pleased to say that I was able to use my ANZ free flights this month and had a really nice trip! (Although more so because of the destinations than the VA experience, which was mediocre.)

One of my tickets was CBR-ADL-CBR, and I nested a ADL-ASP-ADL trip in the middle of that using the second set of free flights. Much to my surprise, I was able to take all of the flights as scheduled and wasn't affected by border closures.

My lounge passes did arrive before the trip (not that I would've needed them anyway as I now have Velocity Gold), but the lounges in CBR and ADL are still closed (and ASP closed permanently). I might give the lounge passes away at some point.

Hi
Does anyone know if there is an after hours number to call for the anz travel rewards team? I’ve been bumped from a flight (without being told) but the flight I’ve been booked on doesn’t suit. Called the travel rewards team and they are closed Saturday & Sunday and the airline can’t do anything as the ticket is booked through ANZ.

Did you happen to earn velocity points/SCs for the flights? I need to do my sector to receive the 12 month renewal and haven’t decided if I risk the ANZ ticket triggering it or booking another flight somewhere. Ticket shows booking is in “U” class which doesn’t seem to be listed on the table.

FWIW yes, I did earn points & SCs and the flights did seem to count as eligible sectors. YMMV!

Has anyone had their previous flight booking cancelled. And had a virgin future flight credit issued as a result (to anz)?
When I rang up anz to use it, I got told that anz put additional restrictions on the future flight credit. These restrictions include:
- any residual amount from the booking cancelled (e.g. $400 credit available, flight costs $200, forfeit the rest)
- must be used in one booking by one person
- an expiry date over 12 months earlier than the future flight credit expiry.
Not sure of the benefit of anz putting on extra restrictions, but curious if anyone has had any experience one way of another?

That’s interesting. I had a fairly expensive flight booked (AYQ) and subsequently rebooked a SYD-BNE-SYD. I only called yesterday to confirm that there’s still $105 credit available and I could apply that to any VA fare.

The cancellation was 10 months ago though.

Interesting... my flights were similar, over $400 in future flight credits for cancelled return AYQ flight. I was trying to book 3 x one way SYD-BNE flights. But was unable as it has to be for a single person. They also said when booked, any remaining credit would be forfeited.
Sounds like it might be worth calling again and see if I get a different agent. Shame you get put on hold for a while when calling...

Yes it can be painful. For what it’s worth, I called at about 4pm yesterday and got straight through. Each staff member does seem to have a different story so if you’ve got a difficult one, HUACA. My current BNE booking shows SYD-BNE-SYD-BDV (with the last “sector” being the credit). That’s standard for how VA is managing credits at the moment.

I spoke to them yesterday and was advised that lounge passes will be sent out closer to a booked trip "in case the booking has to change as the passes have a limited lifespan". I guess there is some logic in that, but it remains to be seen if the process actually works. Fortunately I won't be sweating on them as I will use my "discovery gold" for lounge access for the upcoming "free" trip.
Well, that worked well - not!. No sign of my lounge passes for a flight tomorrow. Spoke to ANZ Rewards Travel to chase up the passes (I think I am entitled to a total of 4 from cancellations last membership year, and this current year) - apparently they need to refer the failure to send them to ANZ Bank - don't ask..... I expressed my displeasure of the process to the consultant. Hopefully I will have them for our next trip in June.

Just completed our ANZ rewards flights BNE-ADL-BNE. Flights were booked into U Class (so I was not feeling optimistic). 20 Status Credits, 2 eligible sectors and 5000 bonus points later, feeling quite happy with the result. Though I don't think I received my 75% gold points bonus.
