ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure Card

I tried to ring ANZ travel regarding my previously booked direct flights that VA had turned into stopovers (too risky!) because they no longer fly that route direct. The customer service staff couldn’t hear me for some reason so I ended up emailing the address on the original itinerary. They rang me back the next day and were so polite and helpful. Anyway, I now have new direct flights to a new destination. I had to pay an extra $11 but it’s better than $70.

What email do you use to reach them? I tried to call them but never can reach them.

Just completed our ANZ rewards flights BNE-ADL-BNE. Flights were booked into U Class (so I was not feeling optimistic). 20 Status Credits, 2 eligible sectors and 5000 bonus points later, feeling quite happy with the result. Though I don't think I received my 75% gold points bonus.
ANZ flights book under the Getaway fare category. Status bonuses only apply to Elevate fares and above (same with eligibility for Fly Ahead).

The original booking, yes. But when they rebook after cancellations, you can end up with other fares. I was given a freedom fare on one leg and getaway on the other. It was an unexpected windfall!

Nicely done. I am still on Getaway fares. It likely depends on why your fares changed and how they rebook. Administration has probably confused things.

so I have 1 lounge voucher from last year, expired Oct 2020.
What are the chances it can still be used this week?

I also have 2 lounge passes that expired in October 2020. I have re-booked my flights with no stress for July so will the passes be accepted or should I contact Virgin to have new ones re-issued?

Was checking my email spam folder and saw an email from ANZ loyalty, which was giving a $10 gift card for paying a telco bill with my card. It was sent a day after i paid my Optus bill, so that and checking for any normal scam signs, i do believe it's legit. Can't find it mentioned anywhere online but does seem like it's happened before last year, though targeted.

Anyone else get it? Could be worth checking your spam folders just in case! Planning to cancel this card before next annual fee, but not a bad bonus i guess..

Options are Caltex, Amazon, Uber Eats, Myer, Woolworths, Priceline, The Good Guys. Dan Murphys and JB Hifi if anyone is curious

My one with October 2020 expiry worked fine last month, no issues whatsoever

So I've been holding out on a change made to my booking made with the card when Velocity pushed my flight back a day but given it's for mid October and we are flying SYD - BNE I think its time to pull the pin, the border isn't going to open by then. Given current situation I don't have a back up plan either.

Any recent experiences, i.e. what's the best way to contact (email sounds a goer, don't really want to spend hours on the phone) and what do they offer, i.e. a credit, refund?

ANZ travel don't manage the bookings any more, so you ring Vigin direct - I did it 2 weeks ago. Sorted out on the phone within a few minutes, flight cancelled and credit in to travel bank for use within 12 months.

I’ve held a transcon Virgin flight via the Travel Adventures card for almost 3 years now. I never really wanted to take the flight as it was not upgradeable and was hoping I could cash it out somehow. Of course C19 has caused me to delay the flight several times (let alone more recently with McGowan‘s personal agenda). Today I rang ANZ TR to change dates again and was advised that as of August last year, ANZ TR no longer manage these VA redemptions and that they are now directly managed by VA. Ker Ching!

After quoting VA the ticket number and asking what options I had, I was told I could convert it into travel bank credit. My VA travel bank is now $410 fatter :)

Sorry to bump this thread but I am looking for a replacement for my 28 Degrees Mastercard due to a few service issues. I am most interested in not paying any overseas transaction fees- the awards programme is less relevant.

Can someone confirm that overseas purchases on this card are entirely fee of foreign currency transaction fees (as is the case for the 28 Degrees Mastercard)?

Thanks in advance
Hi,
Yes I can confirm that, this is my main card for overseas purchases. Just note that there is an annual fee.

There are a few others around. I think ING used to have one. BankWest has one with rewards and therefore and annual fee and another with no rewards so no annual fee.

Another with no fee for overseas purchases is Coles Mastercard. There is a fee but it also gives Flybuys points, which can be converted to Velocity.

Can confirm the CBA Ultimate card (which has great sign on bonus) has no annual fee although has a $35 monthly fee is not spending $2.5k per month, so if spending that much a fee free card. And to the point it has no O/S transaction fee.

(1) Now that Velocity is "back from the dead" I wonder whether ANZ might negotiate with them to restore the flight benefits with the card. No doubt wishful thinking on my part, but I did enjoy a couple of trips from Qld to Perth that I otherwise wouldn't have taken!
(2) I have been contemplating whether the card is now worth the fee charged. But when I look at the travel insurance provisions they allow spending $250 on accommodation to be sufficient for eligibility, even when using frequent flyer points for the airfare. So that's pretty good IMHO. Does anyone know whether there are any pandemic provisions? (I couldn't see any in the terms and conditions). In other words, to what extent (if any) is one covered for covid?
That's enough for one post!
