Apple Airtags

A nappy pin is VERY secure, what ever you put your air tag in, and then to secure it to the case, a NAPPY PIN holds it in place till you undo it !
I put ours in a sock, and then attach it to the inside lid with the NAPPY PIN ... it doesnt move !

I just put mine/ours in a ziplock bag and place that inside an internal compartment of the bag/s. Can't go missing that way and cost is roughly nothing.

Of course, the younger folks in this community probably don't know what a nappy pin is or how to use it or where to obtain one. In our case its easy to obtain one ... they have been in the bottom drawer of the bathroom vanity for the last 30 years!

I found a pink one the other month. We only had boys. 🤷‍♀️😂

A Tile question: which one to buy? It seems that both the retailers and Tile website sell only Mates and similar models, with 3-year battery. Is the Pro model still available and does it warrant the extra cost? If it does, where is it available for sale?

I'm old enough but still had to google the term. I used to know them as safety pins. Unless, of course, they are a different thing altogether...

I definitely know what they are, my siblings are 5&7 years younger than me so I was very good at folding cloth nappies and doing nappy changes in the late 80s/early 90s. One girl, one boy, so I knew the different fold styles too 😂

I keep my Samsung tag in my toiletries bag, zipped in the side pocket. No issues on our trip.

There is a difference between a safety pin and a nappy pin. A safety pin just hooks the pin under a simple folded channel. A nappy pin has a slide over the head that lock the pin closed so it can't come undone and injure the nappy wearer.

The white plastic cover slides over the metal "catch" to ensure it does not come undone. The plastic covers typically come in baby-centric colours like pink or blue ... or white if you didn't want to get confused or had both types a nappy users ;)

I also use nappy pins when knitting - for putting stitches on to the nappy pin when doing certain patterns - I find it better than a double ended knitting needle - as sometime stitches fall off those !

I love AFF. Its so expansive and people are willing to share new info.
We just need grandkids to put this nugget to use. Where can I find some?;)

Whenever I get those tiny ones into the family, you wanna borrow them??? ;)
Besides the cost, they may also impact your travel patterns. E.g. for me, instead of overseas, it might reduce my trips to added frequency in Brisbane. I'll need long and convoluted routes to maintain the SC haul. I've done SYD-CHC-BNE overnight but as a routine that would be madness...

@blackcat20 Would you be able to shed some light on how the Samsung tags perform as a luggage tracker?
Many thanks!

I have been using them for the last month or so travelling through the US. Only scanned for them a handful of times (at airports), and were all located near instantly by the app.

Touch wood, haven't had to use them to actually find a missing bag yet, this was just for fun while sitting in lounges waiting for flights.

I have a ski trip coming up with skis, boots and all the cough you need, and I will air tag everything (5 check-in items)

Peace of mind or an advance action plan, either way, is better than not knowing.

Thanks for the info! I am tossing between Tile and Samsung tags .... the later seems limited to work with Samsung phones only.
