The reaility I don't mind the Macs; they look good - they've been in the lounges for quite some time.

What's annoying me is the complete removal of the Windows devices; hence the removal of choice.

I'll amuse myself by figuring out how to run an XP shell on them ... :P

Finnair lounge in Helsinki has had Macs for a while. Easy to use and stylish

I think you could, if you had a big enough USB stick, or perhaps use the SD card slot. You could run the VMWare app with your own install of Windows located on your memory card. Perhaps. I’m not sure if those programs need to be "installed" as oppose to "launched".

I think this thread needs to be moved to the "religion" category ;);)

Wonder if Mr Joyce is aware of the flash content of most QF sites?????

Never had an issue with Qantas’ flash areas on my mac.

Flash infested sites such as Qantas work fine on a Mac.

It’s sites like Facebook and their games that take issues with Flash on my mac, and in a way that could be a good thing, as it’ll discourage travellers from hogging the machines while they plow their farms ;)

I have no issue with my flash blocker working fine on my Mac ;)

In terms of choice i would prefer a great choice of champagnes to a greater choice of computers ;). I think going with one or the other is a sensible move (I actually don't care which way they went) to keep costs down.

It would be interesting to see if this is part of QF's carbon reduction program...

And Apple isn't a religion - they tried but couldn't get the tax breaks... And unlike other religions I actually get something back when I make a deposit in the collection plate ;)

When the Mac is supplied with a flash player, the new ones are not. Apple are also no longer doing the flash security updates, which should prove fun over time .

The main problem being the size of the deposit required ...

At least they'll be free to use in the QP's :p

PC's don't have a flash player on them either under the standard install.. Install FF and you have to install the flash player again.

Apple never did the updates either, that is an Adobe update. Same is on a PC as well. MS don't control Flash updates, Adobe do (Afterall it is their product).

Apple pushed the updates with each refresh of the OS unlike MS, they stopped this when they shipped earlier versions of Snow Leopard with an older flash version with known security vulnerabilities. It should be remembered that in hacking contests its been flash plugin that has been the preferred route for the Mac.

Maybe its Apples attempt to drag the world into HTML5, I tend to agree with the guardian in the UK : "Or it's a quixotic move inspired by Steve Jobs's desire to turn every computer into a locked-down appliance that only runs Apple-sanctioned apps downloaded through its forthcoming App Store for Mac (which doesn't include plugins)."

It will be interesting to see the difference in support calls, has anyone looked at how many webmail platforms support safari????????? I know a few that dont!

Outlook Web Access works fine on Safari.
Premium or Basic?

With Firefox I can only use Basic but IE allows premium.

Premium is almost full Outlook.

Basic is a very abbreviated portal.

I think I get basic on the iPad - I can access emails and folders but it is a little clunkly (no weekly view for the calendar etc.)

As a heavy non-Windows user, I am pretty sure the only browsers that will do full OWA (non-basic) are variations on IE (so nothing available on any other platform). And basic sucks beyond belief compared to some of the other cross-platform webmail systems out there.

It's one of the major reasons I don't like Exchange as much as I used to...
