Apples here there and everywhere

As a heavy non-Windows user, I am pretty sure the only browsers that will do full OWA (non-basic) are variations on IE (so nothing available on any other platform). And basic sucks beyond belief compared to some of the other cross-platform webmail systems out there.

We use Scalix and it wont work in Safari while its happy in Firefox as well as IE.

When the Mac is supplied with a flash player, the new ones are not. Apple are also no longer doing the flash security updates, which should prove fun over time .

While the MacBook Air isn’t supplied with Flash, the iMac’s (and every other mac) still are… and probably will be until they release a new point update of 10.6 on DVD.

I will agree they have pushed out some Flash updates through the point updates, but others I have had to get myself from Adobe.

Hardly Apple’s fault, some companies have just been slow to bring compatibility, and with the recent trends in the world, I sort of wonder what they’re waiting for. :-|

Unless of course this is just a Microsoft thing, then I understand completely, and you should direct your blame where it belongs :p

Though that being said, just got office 2011 and it works great… only took them 13 years.

I see the words, vaguely recognise them as english words, but when they are all strung together, what does all this geek speak mean...??:)

Having said that, I love my iPad and iPhone. MacBook is next.

That's interesting - do you know how it goes on other WebKit browsers? I believe Zimbra has some issues too, even though I think it's officially supported.

Heck, personally I'm not sure I see the need for anything more complicated than Horde, and I've never had a browser issue with it!

I didn't say it was Apples fault ;). Point being Qantas needs to be aware of the needs of its users, a simple look at the applications in use on the existing PCs would show who is doing what, I suspect there is a lot if use of webmail, mostly with ISP based accounts that are not exchange based systems, some dont work with Safari.

The installation of Apple devices is greenwash. Apple plant trees to offset the carbon footprint for each device, so each Apple device is rated much lower than a PC device.

Qantas can claim to be reducing their carbon footprint through smart purchasing.

I wonder if they are bringing them in from NZ, cheaper but they have to get around the Australian quarantine rules. I prefer granny smiths but the red delicious are pretty good too nice and crisp. Oops wrong apple silly me :lol::lol::lol::lol:

And in fact I think they were more expensive in New Zealand!

Much prefer the Apples @ QF, much more premium offering!

Thought some might find this interesting - iPhones set to pass Blackberry.... pretty impressive!

Apple beats Blackberry maker in smartphone sales

SINGAPORE (AFP) - Apple has for the first time outpaced Blackberry-maker Research in Motion in global smartphone sales thanks to the success of its iPhone 4, a report said Friday.
Industry tracker IDC said Apple sold 14.1 million iPhone units in the third quarter while Canada's Research in Motion shipped 12.4 million Blackberry devices.

Maybe Apple is doing the pushing with Qantas. It would seem to be a bit of a marketing coup to have Macs in airport lounges populated by a lot of businessmen who use Windows PC's usually.

I'm a recent (about a year and a half) convert to Apple. I run windows 7 on VMWare to access my business info, but I really like OSX.

I love my IPad and IPhone too.

Didn’t BB buy Palm at some point? I know someone did, to get at their IP, so I wonder if they’ll be gearing up to release an iPhone-killer next year.

HP bought Palm.

BB need to do something.

Maybe. On the other hand, the Blackberry display with the attractive demo models (both the people and the devices) and the Microsoft Surface have been featured centre stage at the MEL QP recently.

Do they, Apple dont have anywhere near the market share of BB in the corporate fleet space and with the latest issues, I dont see it changing soon?

OS6 is showings its age - and its not just Apple. Android, and now WM7 are also competing. Maybe tablet OS will have the goods.

Also noticed them using a Macbook Pro in the video showing the new NGCI process...

You might want to look at the dates that those figures were taken.
BB was in a different quarter to the iPhone. As they say, 90% of statistics are made up on the spot.

l upgraded to a BB Pearl 3G about 3 months ago. In those 3 months, l've had the handset replaced 3 times (with brand new ones), and it looks like number 4 will be on the way soon. Once my contract expires, l will never get a Blackberry again.
However, on the email side of things, it beats anything l have ever used. fantastic. It's PUSH e-mail, which means l don't have to "pull" e-mails off the web, it shoots them through it's BB servers.
Security wise, the whole phone is encrypted, which means if it goes missing, all my personal data will remain safe. After 10 incorrect password attempts, it will also erase everything on the phone, including SIM.

Next phone, probably an iPhone or a HTC something.

How is a move to a pearl an upgrade??? Were you using tin cans tied with string previously???

Donkey, balls, sucks - rearrange to describe my view of the Pearl (which I have used for 18 months :()
