How many Buttons? Where's centre Click? Scroll?

Not to worry; at least they'll reduce waiting times for lounge PC's; unless everyone reboots them into Windoze. :p

What is so hard about using macs? I know I have been using macs for about 5 years now so the line blurs between Macs and PCs but I dont recall major issues in day to day use.

Left click is on the left, right click on the right, double click to launch something.

The biggest issue I find is that the close/maximise application is on the left rather than right...

I'm a bit newer to Macs than you, I started using a Mac 2 years ago) but I have never had a problem. I welcome the Mac to the lounges.

Not sure what mice they have (magic or mighty) but on the mighty mouse there is a centre scroll wheel. On the magic mouse you just scroll down through the centre of the mouse.

To be fair, whenever I’ve seen Magic Mice, the default setup has been that there’s no right click, only "1 button", but it is possible to turn it on fairly easily, and if it is turned on then although it may look like it only has 1 button, you can set up many many buttons.

You can get third-party software to middle click, but I doubt they would have that installed, and I’m not sure why that’s seen as standard, I haven’t seen scroll wheels on all mice, just the majority. :p

Though as simongr points out, scrolling is very easy and very lovely.

Likewise I wonder too, as your program affiliations are listed as Qantas Silver!

Was wondering how long it would take someone to pick up on that!!

I'm gold now, but can't figure out how to change it atm..

The reason we're always in CL when we travel is because both of the two people I always travel with are CL members. Except when we are at Darwin or ASP, where we only have QP.

In regards to the mac, i'd downloaded a document from my webmail, which was in a zipped folder, and could figure out how to cut and paste the damn document (as I didn't want to send a 43mb folder!)

Cheers

Simsy

I’m sure Mal and JohnK will be pleased, but they’re not that much different for browsing the web… :p
Not really pleased at all.

That poxy white keyboard has to be the worst I have ever encountered. The old giant IBM 5250 and 3180 keyboards were much much easier to use.

I really cannot understand what people see in Apple products.

At least they had the decency to install dual boot so I can use Windows unlike some lounges in SIN and HKG where there is no choice....

Likewise I cannot understand what you see in Windows :p but by using something different, you get used to it to the point where it’s usable. Perhaps in this case you wont actually be using Mac OS X, but you might get used to the keyboard eventually.

At least Windows uses and maintains certain standards which are not present in Apple products.

Not likely to be using that horrible keyboard often enough to get used to it and most function keys are in the wrong place.

Apple uses standards not present in Windows machines.

I am not sure what is so wrong with Apple machines.

In a purely objective way what can you not do in the lounge that you need to?

You can surf websites. Print documents. Check webmail.

I will tell you what I do not have to do using Apple - worry about the BSOD, install anti virus software that slows down my machine to a crawl, buy software to do basic stuff (iLife), remove pre-installed bloatware.

OK the function keys don't work in the same way - spend two mins working out what the right way is and provide some real feedback.

All the anti-apple comments seem to be based purely on some very minor things (some of which we have shown to be wrong such as the two button mouse) - I would love to see someone post something that they can't now do they can do on windows on an airport lounge computer.

Those (not all) in IT tend to prefer windoze as they can do more; the OS's are not as tied up as Mac's are.

Of course, that's not lounge related; other than my USB key with FF and short cuts.

I'll check it out next time I'm in a lounge.

Wow that picture doesn't really work in the iPhone app.

It also only showed your first paragraph before I did the quote reply. Might have mention that in the relevant thread if I remember.

I wont debate this point at all and I am not such a rabid apple fanboy that I decree that everyone should use Apple products (I am very happy with mine and if asked for my opinion I would always suggest going Apple over other products - except for server farms).

It is just the "oh woe is me - I wont use those horrible apple computer in the lounge" without a because...

Personally if there was something mission critical for work that I had to be able to do I would not be relying on getting access to a computer in an airport lounge - I would be taking a laptop.

Works for me on my IPhone, as Princess Fiona said it's a man rubbing his forehead. Works on my MacBook too.

I use a PC at work and travel with a Mac. I use both at home. (I'm a bit of a geek) I find switching between the two relatively easy. I prefer Keynote over Powerpoint, but Excel over Numbers. Pages and Word...I can take either.
