Do you sleep in your car?!
Haven't had to yet!!!

On long haul leather is horrible, you sweat and its difficult to get comfortable and you slide around unless you are completely flat (i.e. business or first).

Short haul its ok, I know Virgin & Jetstar use it to cut costs (cheaper to maintain) but hopefully they change tact for their 777s.
You make a good point. I've not tried a long-haul leather seat and it probably wouldn't be too good to sleep on.

I must admit that I avoid overnight flights now. I used to do them but found that the time saved was generally wasted the next day because I felt exhausted and couldn't operate like a normal human being. Might as well fly in daylight hours, do a bit of work, and arrive in a better state.

You may also find there is a difference in the quality of the leather between what is sold as an optional upgrade in a prestige car vs what is installed on hundreds of seats inside a metal tube.

... What's wrong with leather? I've just ordered a new car and went for leather seats. It's an upgrade over cloth seats.
Not when you wish to sleep. :-|

I have experienced overnight flights with leather seats on AA and JQ and find it quite uncomfortable:

More here: (Leather is fine for day flights)
Ugh! Leather is fine for day flights or otherwise those where you don't plan on sleeping; a slleper suit or some light tracky daks is IMHO necessary if you wish to sleep on these leather seats ...
& here: ( StarClass Cabin):
I found them quite comfortable when using them for eating, drinking, watching movies etc.. For sleeping they don't recline as much as I would like and with the leather covering it gets a bit stickier with one's perspiration. I was ready for this having done a red-eye 757 flight ANC-DFW earlier this year and had with me a set of QF F pajamas which I wore while sleeping. Without them I imagine any clothes I was wearing would become a bit earthy after several hours.

I don't think so. I am almost certain Peter (Yada Yada) would be one of the first if there is something in the pipeline. He will not be at liberty to reveal any details though.

There's a new Velocity logo (love it!) and slogan:

Time for conspiracy theories and speculation. Hmmm, just a V. Maybe Virgin Blue will be changing to the same name as their new international arm.. would be interesting.

...WOW... It looks like the new card will have embossed numbers as opposed to the current printed on membership number....

I think I saw in a previous post/thread something about a "shiny new card".. can't remember where/when.....

Going to have to keep tabs on the new Velocity program.. so far.
- Free trial membership to receive company reports
- New membership card (maybe for new members only)

By the way, the current in flight magazine (August) is probably the best issue I have read yet, a 7 year anniversary edition... forgot to take my copy...  will have to get it next week.

Cheers
Jason

I'll add my 2 cents into this thread to keep it alive :-)

Has anybody else heard that the Velocity changes will include Gold and Silver tiers that are achieved based on yearly fare spend?

Gold level customers also gaining complimentary access to 'The Lounge'

Of course the required spend levels would be interesting to know. I'm guessing the op has reached one of these tiers and would be on the list to receive a new card with a different colour soon.

So how many points would you need? Are the points purely calculated as a multiple of $ spent, or is it to do with revenue/profit?

I have a BNE-MEL and a MEL-BNE which both scored 2394 points (i remember they were expensive approx $380 each way), yet I have a BNE-SYD at 720 and another at 390 (can't remember the price). So to maintain QF PS you need 15 BNE-SYD return or 10 BNE-MEL return in discount economy, asuming the 390 points is approx equal 10 QF SC's, 720 = 20 QF SC's, 2400 = 30 QF SC's, maybe 25k velocity points for silver and 50k for gold?

So how many points do the DJ regulars have? I have approx 5800. How will they differentiate between DJ and partner points?
