Article: Fly Qatar Airways Qsuites from Adelaide to Auckland

In terms of the ADL-DOH service am I right in saying you get lounge access to the QC, however given it closes at 7pm ahead of the 10.20pm departure, Qatar essentially doesn't provide lounge access for this flight? Thanks
Nope. It’s closed. Last flight was 7.30pm. The check in person stated because we are Emerald we could use it (if it was open) but not because of J ticket I understand.

Last QF flight out is at 1925 currently so unless QR pay a decent fee to QF then they are not going to keep the lounge open. Some later QF flights are on the cards in the coming months though so lounge hours should be extended
Nup.

sigh....i booked an ADL-DOH flight in October assuming it would be Qsuite (as their website says this sector is) only to find the seat map is showing the old 2-2-2 config. Any chance there could be an equipment swap to a Qsuite flight?
My ADL-DOH in Sept has now changed seatmaps from 2-2-2 to 1-2-1, as has the return flight in Oct. Check yours again, you may be lucky ;)

Was announced at travel expo yesterday that the service will be increased to 5x weekly due to demand
And in the media today. They'd better improve on their departures from Doha though. Last Saturday the flight into Adelaide was 90 minutes late and the flight to Auckland departed after curfew.

Just saw the media report. Interestingly they have commented that ADL domestic is at higher capacity than pre Covid and also a piece on the news saying that Adelaide has highest hotel occupancy rate in Australia

At the moment, seeing a lot of award availability on this route in November (ofcourse not for Qantas members)

Curious if anyone used their Qcredits on this route and how much it actually required. The QCalculator is still showing 60 :( which seems bizzare considering the whole DOH-ADL-AKL is only 42.

Qantas aren't allowing Business Class Qatar passengers into their now-open Lounge. Family were given a meal credit this month. Which is better than what we got in May which was nothing.

Additionally last week with flights running late out of Heathrow, a regular occurrence now, Qatar doesn't always wait for those arrivals for the flight to Adelaide. Friends had to stay for 24 hours in Doha.

Adelaide Airport has a curfew, so they actually can't wait very long for passengers on delayed connecting flights.

Well aware of that as I live here. They waited 90 minutes for our delayed flight in June but clearly the policy has changed.

Yeah. The onward ADL-AKL flight is now scheduled to leave 40 minutes before curfew, so waiting 90 minutes is not an option now.

Do you mean in Auckland? On what grounds are they denying OW J pax access to a OW J lounge?

Adelaide. It was closed when we went in May, and this month it was non seasoned FF'ers travelling in J for first time, they were simply offered food vouchers presumably at the check-in counter.

Have heard that the ADL lounge was shutting after last QF departure and as QR aren’t coughing up there is no lounge access for the QR departing flight. I don’t know if that is still occurring

I read your original post on this as they were denied entry to an open lounge. Being closed is a different story.

This might change once VA becomes a QR partner.
Some VA lounges don’t bother opening for their own flights!

But it will be interesting which lounge QR direct non-status J PAX to.

Two different instances. Closed when we left in May. It was open when Relatives tried in late July as they got to the airport by 5.30pm. Lounge closes around 7.15.

QR send J pax in BNE to the NZ lounge (Gold/Platinum in Y get nothing). However QF15 to LAX moves to a 22:30 departure in September (QR is a 22:40 departure), so hoping QF will actually follow OW rules and allow QR pax to enter.

Ok I hate to quote myself but given the recent AFF article about a future plaza premium lounge at Adelaide it's also a possibility that QR could use the plaza premium instead of the VA lounge.
