Ashes in Australia 2013/14

I'm thinking of taking the Poms in Adelaide at 3:1 ...

What are the odds on England losing by more than 400 runs or by an innings....might put my house on that!!!*

I think the England players have lost the plot. The batting was poor in New Zealand earlier in the year, and apart from Ian Bell it was decidedly average in the Ashes series in England. Psychologically Australia's players are well on top so it will be interesting to see how both sides handle the next test.

*Highly unlikely I am a very conservative investor. :p

Unfortunately rain is predicted for the first day making the Poms feel right at home.

I'm going on Friday... hopefully the rain has stopped by then (for my liver's sake anyway...)

Raining right now. Weather is going a little tropical here this week as it's going to be warm until Wednesday.

Chatting to someone involved in the formal side of hosting test matches last night. Going to be a big week of hosted activities for them. Quite interesting really.

Are you using some sort of reverse psychology trying to lull the Aussies into a false sense of confidence?

I may drop in to the members on Fri if work allows. Will def be there for at least some sessions on Sat and Sun though. Assuming we take that long to beat them.

AFF catchup maybe? :p. I'm looking forward to checking out all the new facilities in the members although I suspect that hasn't changed much from last time.

Happy to catch up after play has finished...no status here so no members access

Will be at day 3 of the SCG Test. When the seats were booked I was more or less dreading going along this summer as I'd been there three years earlier (and every Sydney Test for the past 17 years) to see the final humiliation. Also the 'winter' Ashes were not encouraging. The Gabba Test has changed all that but it remains to be seen what will be the situation come January. The perfect situation would be 1-1 or 2-2 going into the Test but I'd settle for 3 or 4-0....

Pushka, I think you'll like shintaro10x when you meet him (if my character reference is anything to go by ;) - he and I catch up some times on my trips to ADL).

I'd love to find an excuse (client :D) to fly down there during the Test and make sure there's enough time for a visit to The Oval and introduce myself. Fingers crossed x

The 2nd test is underway with Australia 1/46 at lunch. There have been 3 rain interruptions already. Not a good sign.

What is good though is England in disarray. Chopping and changing like Australia was 6 months ago.

Tomorrow will be better and hot by Sunday. Our office is 10 minutes walk from the oval. Makes for easy parking.

Looking forward to going tomorrow, and great news to hear that I'll also be going in on Saturday...

"The Hill on Friday / Platinum Reserve on Saturday... but a non status pax in regard to Members though... If I get around to it I might do a mini TR but nothing on the scale of QF WP

I see Australia are 4/241, with Rogers getting 72, Warner a quickfire 29 (but threw his wicket away), Watson 51 and Smith 6. Nice to see the Clarke (32) and Bailey (46) steadying things again. A pretty good day for the Aussies overall - well, it is a drop-in flat batting pitch.

So, the new ball is available (80 overs bowled) but hasn't been taken just yet. England also reset back to 2 reviews. Stumps is scheduled for 6.09pm local time, so 30 mins of play still remains.
