ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I split our WA land tax in two and now that we have our US Citi Executive cards running sweetly I am thinking why not earn some super cheap AA miles seeing they don't exempt Government bills from points earn.
A late adjustment to our monthly BAS means we have overpaid the ATO BAS by a bit for February ( We paid it by 14th March).

Nothing so high end as land tax here, just a couple of thousand due in a couple of weeks for a division 293 super bill. As a PAYG wage slave I have not structured my affairs for this - I haven't got any cards that earn with the ATO! :) Current plan is to purchase some pre paid visa card(s) with my Citi card and pay it that way. Anyone ever taken this path?

Do you have a Woolies Everyday rewards Credit Card? If not you could get one pretty quickly and hopefully get a good sign on bonus for $89.

Thanks Cove I may end up taking that route. Since joining this hobby I have focused on velocity ff, amex MR and bought avianca points. Qantas is a bit of an unknown for me and I don't carry a big QFF balance, so for that reason I might be better off with another solution. Also those pesky cc applications have been piling up (4 in 12 months) so should probably save my application(s) for bigger things.

I have an offer from 2 friends to pay their tax, for $2K this month and $20K in May, what's the chances of getting away w' that on my Woolies QF EDR card without it being summarily cancelled? I have had it for 11 months w' no other tax bills on it.

The 2K seems OK

The other amount I wouldn't risk it myself in one single hit.

You can drip feed from today though.

Still some six weeks to go !

Reading a number of earlier posts (around page 172 I think) I thought the WWEDR card was no longer any good for ATO payments? Oh hang on, are you talking for buying prepaid visas?
I have a $ix figure bill looming so would think pre-paid visa would not work. Westpac Black amex then?

Edr Doesn't earn? Seriously?
You are of-course right. I meant the CC that came with the edr card. I cannot recall it's name as I hadn't intended getting one and it was thrown into the bottom drawer and now cannot locate it. At the time I was not on AFF and so not particularly savvy as to it's benefits.

Oh I am sorry I meant the Qantas woolies credit card.... When did it stop earning?

Hang on what is this??:

There are some discussions on AFF regarding ppl who have had their WOW Qantas Cc cancelled after non-retail spend with ATO. I was hoping someone could clear it up. Should I just use Westpac Black amex for Altitude points earn? This is an effective 1.5 points with a 1.43% fee.

I am tempted to phone and ask them, or would that be a mistake? If someone has paid ATO recently on WQFEDR cc and can post .... I'm still looking at 2K hopefully will get through.

I think you have answered the question right there...exercise caution using the woolies card if at all. Looks like I will be using black amex as well.
