There is really no need for anyone to ring any CC companies. All the info needed is in this thread. Including the info that the CSOs will very likely have no idea what you are talking about and hence you will get confusing answers that will lead you back to this thread

Yes sure, but there is also conflicting info in this very thread ;).

I've never read, anywhere, that the WW EDR Qantas credit card doesn't pay points, only that abuse of the T&Cs (too much ATO spend) can lead to cancellation.

and I am sure that there are other suggestions not to ring the call centres. What happens that often the call centre says "no government charges" and the asker just comes back here and asks again. and around and around we go :)

Even if it were so (which I don't think it is at all), there is no need to call anyone up.

Period !

If in doubt, do a test run yourself to test your self doubt.

We all do such test run from time to time to resolve doubts, so can you (or indeed anyone else).

Do you really think your sincerity - by calling up & explaining - would gain some helpful pointers ?

Please, think again.

I have had no issues getting award points from tax payments using the EDR card.

There is a report on this forum where EDR cancelled a members card because they only used it for ATO payments for their business.

The EDR card is supposed to be for personal expenditure only - it is in the T&C's.

Best advice is to mix expenditure up.

Shintaro I admire your audacity, but am afraid to follow in your footsteps. How was the overpayment detected and refunded? How long did it take? Given a value of 1.5c per point, what was the cost in forgone interest / investment return on this money? :)

Shintaro10x I am watching your progress in the champagne and ATO threads with alarm. Getting free money from balance transfers to overpay the ATO from credit cards then using the refund to go Starthere and then on into DanMurphys site and paying with RAA 5% off gift cards is quite out there. Watch out for the free delivery at $300 dollars as that would create a double, double dip which of course must be topped by someone who will introduce one more step. Now you have got me thinking.
Now as long as you don't tell anyone.....

Tax & Champagne in the one thread... who would have thought cove...

I still think champagne here is too expensive, and I say this when I'm paying for it 10.25% cheaper than most...!

Yes I'm being hit with 0% balance transfer offers too....but that would lose 1/2 the points in my case as those transfers don't incur points?

I pay some of my personal tax on this card, but not my business tax.

I also use the card for other things... It's a good product apart from the coughpy website and absent customer service...

Meanwhile in the land of the Quokka I think I will write off the idea of earning points on my tax bill. I don't have (nor wish to quickly acquire) an ATO points earning card. My idea of prepaid cards would probably work, but the time and money required to buy and redeem the cards makes the opportunity cost too high. Whilst I will lose >2000 points, I will have more time to do other things, and I won't have too many card applications on file. :) Next year when my division 293 tax falls due, I'll be ready.

So when you do the balance transfer you don't lose the points from the first card?
Cause I'm sure you don't earn them on the new card....no?

Personally, I think people get themselves way, way too worked up about the "risks" of putting ATO through the WOWEDR card.

To the best of my knowledge, over multiple years we've had one - just one - member report having the card cancelled for putting through large volumes of ATO (and nothing else). On the flipside, many other members have been using this card for ATO for a long time without issue - I myself was putting $10k-$20k/month of ATO through it for well over a year (along with using it for other purchases) and had no issues. Not to mention, if you were particularly unlucky and had your account cancelled, is it really that big of a deal? There are other 1pt/$1 QF cards out there - the WOWEDR is just the most well known.

On an unrelated note, I just added a NAB Qantas Premium to my card portfolio. Maybe I should sign up for a CBA card too, so I have one from each of the big four :-)

I sometimes pause for reflection and working 4 days straight in a different city will cause that to happen.
Questions like how many is too many points in a particular points/ miles scheme?
Can we get to use the points we have generated within the expiry time limits?
Will my family know how to use up all the points should I get too old/decrepit to use them?
Then of course along comes a monthly or a combined monthly and quarterly set of bills from the ATO to get you back into gear.
Having the opportunity to open an extra big 4 bank suite of premium credit cards to pay the ATO would seem a pretty good idea and of course a sign on bonus may get you to YES.
The American Express cards that I have namely the Ultimate and the Velocity are now close to useless seeing the points cost up to 2.9 cents to generate if they give you half a point a dollar on ATO. Even if they give you one point per dollar the 1.45 cents per point is beyond my points/pain barrier to do any ATO.
The Woolies EDRCC just should not be complete pages of ATO entries and nothing else and I think I put something north of $xx_,xx_ on it annually and I do use that card for personal as well as the one point per dollar uncapped is very generous.

just spent a very pleasant 2 hours in the QF Lounge. now sitting in 2G, with my mother and daughter in Row 1. loving this topic, girls week away. KL, F1, shopping and pool time, all thx to my favourite friends at AFF, and MAS

Just recorded my closing car mileage as it is the end of the Fringe Benefits tax year today. Now which credit card to use to give a banker a thrill!
It was the last day to file 6 of our tax returns so in they went.

I put over 2.5 times that through mine, big bills to $ 5 bills, ATO possibly $ 75K pa...never been queried but probably in excess of 100 entries per month. Even paid for half my wife's BMW on it after much haggling with the Dealer and getting up to walk out.
