ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

It will be a happy anniversary for this thread on April 2nd. These first 5 years have changed where we sit on planes.

That's true my only gripe is that I started reading this thread 3 months after I paid a $250k balancing payment by cheque !!!!!!!!!!!

Oh the waste :( it's all been good since then though, mostly Business class but I'll get my first taste of first with my son on Qantas to LA in July & back from LHR with SAL suites Hopefully the A380 is nice.

Totally agree. We are in the same boat( or plane). So many tax bills paid and no ff points!

Doing my BAS now, only joy I get is from arriving at a figure to key into the ATO portal.... the things we do for points ;-)

Aff

Greetings ladies and gents. I write this post not to gloat or brag but to give thanks for where I am. I sit aboard SQ 228 in 3C with mini UXB ( aged 7) in 3D, suites class , bound for SIN then F to MXP. In my right hand sits a perfectly chilled glass of Krug , golden in colour and silently bubbling! My toast as always is to the ATO ,and my good friends at the AFF , but this time there is a special toast. This wonderful thread turns 5 tomorrow so many happy returns. Now I am not the first with my birthday greetings , I think Cove holds that honour with post 2884 and again last night, but hopefully the golden nectar which graces my hand is a suitable accompaniment to this great occasion.
I am so greatful that I found this thread back in its early days in 2009. Before js I was earning enough points to fly 3 QFF J trips to Europe every 2 years, but purely as a result of this thread in the last 18 months alone I have been able to earn 3 SQ F returns to Europe and 6 SQ J returns to Europe.
I give many thanks to all those in AFF land. I know I have taken much from this forum , hopefully I have given a little in return , even if some of what I post is complete rubbish it is never intentional.
I consider I play the game fairly hard but I know there are others that make me look like an amateur ,but in this forum there is always inspiration and advice on how to go one better and that's what keeps me coming back for more.
Once again many happy returns to IMO the finest thread on the AFF , and many , many thanks to js for sharing way back on 2/4/2009.
Long may the sharing continue

Cheers Danger UXB

Danger, I am hoping you get a world record number of likes for that post. Enjoy your trip

this thread is good...but be careful it has a tendency to warp reality and make you (1) like paying tax & (2) pay it early...!

Have fun Danger UXB.... & Cheers JS too.... ;)

I think, whilst typing that message, your perfectly chilled Krug went up 1°C. Not so perfect now, huh. ;)

The many insightful posts over the past five years are a treasure trove and have greatly assisted in accepting the merits of paying your taxes even when it often feels you are in the minority.
This blog has made this time of year much more bearable and a fitting time for the post's birthday.
Sure helped overcome the pain felt today processing the second of three 6 figure instalments to go with a couple of 5 figure ATO donations I have to make over the two month period from end of February and April.
We should also pay homage to the first anniversary of the beginning of the end of Citi cards. Besides their previous rather obscene Points Benefit/Cost Ratio, the ability to load and even double load your limit used to make processing a breeze.

This month is one of those large ones where we have quarterly income taxes as well as BAS. I upgraded my banking skills with a token so I don't need to visit a bank branch. I am glad I did that.
I just managed to file the tax returns on time and two were refunds so the ATO will pay that back electronically even though it got paid quarterly by credit card. Now that is a very nice touch that is probably better than a thank you note.

Cove the best thank you for sure is receiving a refund from payments already made from credit card. Such a great source of cheap and easy points

Nah. It will still be perfect. When I was on my Suites flight a couple of weeks ago, if I ignored my champagne (I chose the Dom Perignon by the way) for more than five minutes a charming young lady would come and tell me it was now undrinkable and give me a fresh one, perfectly chilled.

Had time to notice seeing I am between flights for another 20 minutes.
The tax refund idea is gaining some traction in this thread so I think there are some who really want their Suites rides.
Of course I start wondering if this is normal but after a few micro seconds AFFers go "what's next?"

Sometimes the more tax you pay, the more you get back

And the points are also yours to keep...! (all be it at 0.42 cents each ;))
