ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

It is true that suites on SQ can be inspirational.
Lucky for Cruiser and cove there is a tax amnesty running until December 19th.

Cruiser Elite pretty much owns a Suite.
Doin' my best - but not quite there yet. Next confirmed Suite adventure is Jun 18 - have 3 wait lists for Apr 16, 17 and 18 - been mostly F for me recently - think I have acquired 2C via vacant possession - ain't quite Suites but still courtesy of the big bad taxman amongst others.

I am trying to reduce my tax bill to 0....

Not possible for me, being significantly service oriented, with only moderate expenditure.

Getting the GST payable to be 0 is not possible, but points on collecting and paying tax from others is fun

Fortunately my April ATO is less than $x,xx_,xx_. What a relief!
Now when we go out with our older friends the only taxes they are all paying is GST on some of their living costs.

Yes it is the real vacuum cleaner that keeps ones bank accounts from overflowing but it has created that reverse problem when it comes to frequent flyer points.

GST and PAYG certainly add up before you even get to income tax. It is nice, however, to make money (points) out of other people's/the government's money.

Just went thru a rejigging of my NAB fleet leasing facility to cover the next 12 months. The bank is now requiring ATO transaction reports together with the usual company and director financials.
Paying the ATO on time has never been a problem though they have been greedy the past month or so pushing the friendship to the limit.

I think Cove is personally responsible for the building and maintenance of 2-3 teaching hospitals in Perth !

Plus a highway (or two) ?

The ATO is just one of our business partners and they make sure your cash holdings don't overload your pockets.
The Big 4 banks certainly check to see all your taxes are up to date especially the BAS and quarterlies.
i really miss putting ATO on anything Citibank in Australia and American Express Ultimate but you have to shake the changes off and keep at it.
My brother's book keeper only files 3 of her 28 clients BAS by the due date so just remember we are the good guys on this thread.

The ATO is quite lazy in pursuing outstanding debts. They send nasty letters and people in trouble just ignore them. ATO will move in when the debt really is insurmountable for the problem business. Have seen this a few time and I'm not even an accountant. Biz in financial trouble may have difficulty obtaining finance, so the open ended finance provided by ATO starts to look attractive.

All of this makes poor business sense but people do it, are doing it now and will end in tears soon or later.

As has been said before, keep taxes up to date.

For new-comers, or those who don't (yet) have a Pest-wack card, but have some big bills to pay (ATO or otherwise): I believe they are currently offering double points for all new rewards cards, for a three month honeymoon period. It's manna from gail kelly, as long as your credit score can handle it. I was recently knocked back for a share margin loan, when I have never missed a payment in my life, and have a good job and reasonable net assets. I blame AFF... in a good way. :)

Wow, that is some offer for us CC-tax-payers. 3 (effective) ppd on all tax payments for 3 months - I'm seriously considering cancelling my Altitude Black and re-applying (I can't see anything in the T&Cs which mentions an exclusion period for current customers - just says "...when you apply for a new Westpac Altitude, Altitude Platinum and Altitude Black Credit Card between 1 April 2014 and 22 June 2014").

Waf that is the only course of action I can see that will get me over the line on this little matter also. Would that require transferring all existing Altitude pts out at same time?

As I have said over and over - the cultivation and harvesting of FF pts to facilitate continuity of a desired travel pattern can be a complex matter.

That is awesome!
I would love though to get the Westpac Krisflyer Platinum, but it seems that one doesn't get the double points? I hope someone can tell me I'm wrong....
I do have some big tax bills to pay though and the double points sounds good.
