ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Had a biggish ATO amount to pay this week as I am travelling most of next week. I used ANZ Black Amex to help my son together with two Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum Amex cards seeing they change to lower earn rate on April 1st..
Yum points/ miles all at 1.5 to the dollar this month so it is still going.
i resisted temptation of using Qantas Credit Union card as yesterday was day two of using the card and I really need a point a dollar Qantas card. I am confident I can use this new card for general lifestyle things where Amex is not accepted.

I'm using the free for life (+$49 QFF fee) citi signature for 1:1 QF ATM but useless for ATO. Now Earth Black is dead, it's my non-ATO Amex but I need ATO capable Amex + Visa/MC... I have applied for a BankMECU card (considering it looks like the QCU card will be prohibited sooner due to the large number of AFF'ers who are moving there) ;)

Can't see any point applying for an Amex offering as they are all biting the dust.

I really need to get this payment clearing house business going but it would seem an AFSL is required as it would be a financial product. This is no small exercise, both upfront and ongoing.

The saga continues...

Just received regarding our corporate Amex card....does not bode well for the personal cards.

Looks like an expanded definition of "government bodies"

We are making some updates to the American Express® Membership Rewards program for your Corporate Card program, and would like to take this opportunity to share the revised earn rates which will begin 1 July 2015. You and your Card Members will continue to earn 1 Membership Rewards point for every dollar spent on all purchases with the exception of the merchant categories below:

You will continue to earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points for every dollar spent on:

− “insurance” (excluding insurances offered by American Express).
− “utilities” which are gas, water and electricity providers.

You will now earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points for every dollar spent on:

− “utilities” which are gas, water and electricity providers.
− “telecommunications providers” including goods and services purchased from
phone, mobile and internet service providers.

You will now earn 0.25 Membership Rewards points for every dollar spent on:

− “government bodies” including the Australian Taxation Office, Australia Post, federal/state
and local government bodies.

Of course, no good for ATO though.
Those with the Westpac Krisflyer Plat AMEX need to smash it one last time over the next week or so for 1.5KF miles per $

my WoW EDR card just posted 17000k points to my QFF for the ATO payment. Looks like this will be the last month that this works before the changes take place.

Have already signed up for a HSBC Qantas card to take over for ATO payments.

Indeed, thanks for the reminder, unfortuantely I typed in the wrong amount and overpaid!

How careless is that !!! are you sure you paid all of your debt ?? what about provisional ???....better to be sure than sorry, be a devil and make another one to be safe..... worse case is you might have to ring them and ask for a refund......by cheque or EFT to a BANK ACCOUNT of course..... Joe will love you !

It only took 5 years for this thread to find a few ATO fiends. Fortunately it isn't mainstream Australians reading these posts.
I left the Westpac cards I used last time with an interest free debt because that is the way the credit card system works. If I walked into the bank and said I wanted $xx_,xx_ to pay tax the answer would probably be No we don't lend for ATO.

CBA Diamond Mastercard promo.

Happy Days, bonus points posted right on time. 3 trips around the ATO merry-go-round using the banks money ( credit limits) for free ;)

Guys has the easypay credit card payment website recently been updated ?
It looked a bit different today when I was on.
Also saw that the Visa/Mastercard fee was 0.42% ? Wasn't it previously 0.48% ?

I've never taken much notice as always pay my tax on the Amex.

Yes the page has had a minor makeover ... but the 0.42% has been there for some years.

It says 0.5pt per $
No it says 1 per $

5. American Express Qantas Discovery and Velocity Escape
With no annual fees, no points capping and reasonable earning rates of one point per dollar spent, the Qantas American Express Discovery and the American Express Velocity Escape cards shouldn’t be overlooked.

No, the 0.5 refers to other cards:
<They’re also the highest earners for tax payments when compared to other American Express-issued Qantas and Virgin Australia cards, and even the by-invitation Centurion card – all of which slash points earning to a mere 0.5 per dollar on ATO payments and charge an annual fee for the privilege.>
