ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Yes I am just finishing making 2% off my borrowed money for the last couple of years. The profits are taxable of course.

Last week took a punch and use rewardpay.com.au ( 2.4% fees + GST ). Payment took about 3 working days to hit receiver bank account, so far so good. Looking forward to use it more often.

It's a game changer especially in these dark days of constant cc enhancements.

The only thing I don't like is completed transaction history listing. The order# is listed in descender order but the corresponding dates are all over the place.

I'm still puzzled as to the lack of customer support and guidance on the site... they really don't seem to be trying very hard.

Yeah, I've heard lots of stories about lack of replies.

They sent out a couple of newsletters in the beginning but haven't received anything anymore.

As it's a new type of payment system, I thought they'd be more info to help ease the mind of newcomers as lots of people are a bit suss on using it. There was a big push at the start by them and AMEX (I think) on using it, but haven't seen any newsletters from AMEX or any more articles about it.

I've personally used RewardPay to pay suppliers and have found it great. At the beginning their site wasn't working properly (I never got the SMS codes needed to transact) and they wouldn't accept AMEX cards issued by the Big Four, but now all appears to be fixed and Big Four cards are accepted too.

Will just have to look around and see if I can find the appropriate biller details for the ATO to enter into RewardPay - had not considered it until now.

That would be great. They ask for an EFT number with a different number of digits, and I haven't had a reply to two mails asking for clarification.

Also had an attempted rates payment fail, and again, no follow-up.

Like I said, more puzzled than anything else. You'd think a modicum of customer support would earn them a fair bit of new business.

The last half-decent point earner is to be effectively closed off from 1 July: Qantas Cash will then offer 1 point for every $4 spent. At that point I'm giving up on ATO card payments. It's possible ATO payments may be banned altogether.

I have not given up on ATO payments.
At work we have access to 250,000 points per person/year but that is more expensive at the moment than CC sign ups.

Try searching this thread. I think I posted those details on here.

The only times I've had payments fail was because AMEX put a hold on the card because the charges looked suss or there wasn't enough credit on there as sometimes I put a rewardpay charge on there then pay the card off straight away and the funds wouldn't show onto the card for 2 days and then I've gone to use the card the following day assuming the payments had gone through. Best to call AMEX to see if there's an issue on their end.

My 2nd transaction with rewardpay - I paid March 19 Sunday, payment arrived at receiver account today :)

Funny thing is: 2nd transactions I did not receive any email from rewardpay at all ( zero email ). But First transactions I do received several emails

Ugh this was my next point of attack too

Had a company bill so I went Kris,Kris,Qantas,Qantas and finally Kris to get it all done with 5 credit cards.I paid a week before the due date as we are overseas.

Depend upon what one has access to, and how much one values a point.

Paying direct with AMEX can cost 2.9¢ per point, so it 20% cheaper than that.

That must allow Amex to earn quite a bit on any sales as 2.9 cents a point would probably double their money on their purchase cost.

yeah, Amex return 1 Point for $2 on ATO payments and the punter gets charged, 1.45¢ per $1 for the privilege.

I did a lot with them in the early years of ATO credit card payments. I stopped when they started gouging.
