ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Mrscove is wondering what I will be doing with my new spare time after June 30th where there will be no points on all of our taxes.

STG - Last hope. No changes Please Please.

If all cards dead, I assume rewardpay will get more business soon.

You can still use your Westpac KF Amex Cove. No changes to these cards......yet

Gee Bill I was thinking somewhere closer to Sale like maybe Perth or Melbourne. I have given up going to hot/steamy spots.

Mitch_W you are correct with that so better hold off on the drinks idea if you hold that legacy card.

been using rewardpay with my amex explorer (with the points programs linked to Ascent) for last 2-3 months. its awesome!
will stick to this till till (if) amex changes things.

Good news for STG Cards. 10% remain the same, no mention about ato spend - Perfect!

so far the best card for visa $1 earn 0.75KF. Plus annual 10%

Dreadful state of affairs from Westpac. still have a Amex direct with Amex so at least that helps.
after only flying international J since this thread started, this is actually heartbraking, but sort of knowing that it was going to come.
still have a shed full of warehousing with Altitude, at least that is safe.

Went to the tax accountant today and my largish quarterly payments mean I will be getting some tax refunds for the 2016 returns. Well that is nice!

I have just read a post on AusBT where ChrisCh is banging on about Westpac no longer paying on ATO from July 1 2017; in line with all the other cuts
AFAIK that stopped almost 2 years ago.
Please tell me I am wrong

I'm referring to Altitude not Westpac Kris (which as we all know is still good but no longer sold)

Westpac reduced point earn to half on ATO for Amex and none for MC a few years ago. Latest change means no ATO earn on either card.
Wish I'd applied for SQ card rather than Altitude Black. Guess it's a trade off between a flexible currency with no expiry vs a good currency with 3 year expiry.

I'm still earning QF points on the business choice rewards card from Westpac, and have not received anything to suggest they are cutting points earn for ato spend. I hope they forget about this card, but I'm sure it won't be long till they enhance this card too.

$6000 for a J return on points is not on my "ways to earn points" list

Westpac Black Amex still earns till July 1. Though IMO not a good deal due to the surcharge paid for points earnt.

Am I right in understanding the Amex velocity escape is still an option? Does anyone have any thoughts about or experience with that card?

For now... Discovery was recently cut to 0.5/$1 on government spend so only a matter of time until Escape drops as well. They haven't announced any changes to the direct-earn Velocity cards: yet.

Thanks ChrisFlyer, might prepay my tax this month. Safety first!
