ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Does the Westpac Altitude Black still get points on the Mastercard. I know I still got points when I paid my ATO bill prior to 30 June and the notice I got said that points are no longer available on the Amex; but no mention of the Mastercard.

I'm willing to try a small amount and see; but I don't know how to tell from my statement if I got the points or not - in between all my other expenses on that card.

i was under this impression too. i thought it was just the WBC Black Amex that wouldn't get points after 30/6. put my quarterly Bas on the M/C arm of the card, and still didn't get any points. sighs.............now crying. going to read my T & C's

Sorry, to hear that. I've put through the BAS on the Only1 Visa debit cards. At 0.6c/$, that is better earn than the MC... just takes a lot of time purchasing and then entering 400 gift cards.

Cove and others..... I got some leave at the moment..... Fly me to the cards and I will enter em ;)!

Wow Plant you must have better things to do with your vacation. I spend about half an hour a month now on ATO points. I do hope you enjoy your break. We start ours next week.

I can confirm they do.

When did you make your last payment taurus? How long did it take the points to post after your charge was presented?
I made a tester payment on 24th. Been watching FB site for points to hit. Transactions on MC from 26th have posted and others from 24th have too but not for ATO yet.
Have just done another $15 one yesterday. Will report back my experience.
I hope it still works. Was hoping to delay using RewardPay for a little longer. Payment is too large to pay $100 at a time.

Edit: just re-checked points that have posted aren't matching up line by line with MC transaction history but doesn't seem to be aggregating them either. Keen to figure this out.

I only run with Woolies, Coles and David Jones discounted gift cards generally to cut a small percentage off our living cost which is an after tax saving. I guess 5 or 10 per cent off is worthwhile seeing the fiscal fiend has taken up to 49% already.
Received our Kris Flyer statements and all good there in July. Qantas points came streaming through as well.
My youngest son paid some taxes for some Kris Miles too. I still haven't bothered to get that card. He seems to love it.

Is it really worth the time and effort buying and then paying with the $100 Only1 gift cards?

I'd rather do without the headache.

I'm thinking a mix of only1 and rewardpay moving forward.
using some only1 will help bring down the average ppd with rewardpay's 2.6% surcharge.

Ive only done one so far - over 6K. Transaction was July 4, appears it hit Coles on 6 and processed with points on July 7.

Thanks for that. Might take a punt on coles for my next payment. Been making $10-15 tester payments but not exactly clear on what has been coming through as not exactly 2 x value of spent on that particular day.

yes and no. I put through just under 1000 visa 1s during May. That came to 300k KrisFlyer for around $1200 ( I think )
it’ll be a while before I do that again (at least October) ! It’s not too bad once I set some shortcuts/macros up.

in the end I rationalise as effort required for 2 x SG F to LHR. It would never happen otherwise.

That's a lot of Only1 gift cards. That would require a lot of effort to purchase. Macros would help but it was taking me 1-2 minutes to process each ATO payment manually.

I will shortly have to pay ATO ~$70,000 capital gains tax. I don't have a credit card that earns 1:1 point. Think the Virgin money card only earns 1:0.5 points. I have almost convinced myself that it'd be worthwhile to purchase the $500 Visa gift cards from Harvey Norman but will do that over a number of months to lessen the burden. Also there is only 1 Harvey Norman store that I know that still sells the Visa gift cards.

I think that's enough points for a one-way in business to Thailand at a cost of ~$900 plus SQ taxes. It's debatable whether that is actually worth it. An economy return is almost half that amount and earns points to use for future use. But that's for another discussion.
