ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Am new to the forum and have been reading this thread diligently to trh and figure out way to pay a $160k tax bill and max points vs cost vs effort.

Does this sound like a good summary? Any other cheap and easy points earn solution?

PREPAID DEBIT CARDS
Pro - cheap and full points earn potential via whatever credit card u use to purchase them
Con- labour intensive as they they generally only go up to $100-$200 per card. Corporate prepaid cards can go up to $10k but are expensive and may not be treated as normal spend on youf credit card
The exception seems to be Qantas Cash which is cheap but there's limits to how you can transfer and points cap so requires multiple processing over several days

CREDIT CARD
- Dragon visa is a good one, but potentially will remove it soon. Any other personal visa/master cards that still give points for ato payments?
- Most amex issued cards, though ato charges high transaction fees for amex

Come on people. ATO is on its last legs....can we pls use some discretion so as not to speed up its demise?

We talk in code for a reason. Babysofy, any chance of editing your post to a dragon reference instead of the full product?

To answer your question, it is a good summary, except that you have missed rewardPay for AMEX.

Any luck with only1s ? i am sitting on around 20x and got declined by ATO , sound like they stop it ?
Yeah i'm calling it, have a few left but should be able to pay health insurance over next few months. Made the balance of my BAS payment last night by BPAY - first time paying ATO with no points for a long time!

Unless I’m missing something, other than the $1k limit isn’t Divi perfect? and a bargain?

Yes, it's very good if you can live with the $1k limit.

We'll probably need to have a codeword for Divipay soon otherwise the banks will have to review Divipay's classification if this gets abused, which would see the service axed or introduce a RewardPay-esque surcharge.

I loaded up $100. found out the surcharge is $0.4, but for some reason its charged at the ATO side, but exactly $0.4 is left in the virtual MC. However, it took 8 hours for the transaction to show up on actual Account (so I can be sure its went through) and I have yet to find a way to load up $1k at a time. As it looked like you can't charge and dump the card efficiently.

Just set up an account and tried to load a V1. Looks like it
Ales some pew authorizations on your V1 then you have to confirm what they are before it refunds them in a few days. Will take ages to pay anything of high value in this way ... assuming doesn’t get shut down for the fiscal fiend first.

Why not skip V1 and go straight to your best earning m/c or visa?
