ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I had quite a few ATO quarterlies arrive today in the mail that are due on April 28th.

Just in time to give your Krisflyer Amex one last dance?

I'll be cancelling my KF Visa when the next statement comes around (and points delivered to SIA)
It's been swell, but the party is over.

Not that the rate was any good anyway, but QF Cash will stop awarding points on "government related transactions" on 1 July 2018.

Hi All,
I have read a good 20 pages today (and more in the past) and am still confused as to my best option.
I hold Amex plat (personal) 0.5pts/$ and two other cards which don't earn.
I can't apply for another card just yet.

Will a prepaid visa option be better than the amex plat? If so, any hints as to what I should be searching this thread for?

I have all the time in the world to enter numbers - or my assistant does. Just not sure what is currently working and what is not. Paying personal and business tax/GST/BAS.
Thanks.

PM sent. Doesn’t matter what is the nature of your ato payment, CC companies will treat it the same

Your Amex Plat would be a waste of time and effort at 0.5 points per dollar. US credit cards got hit so they are too expensive now. Reward Pay is expensive unless you have an Amex card that runs 2 points per dollar.
I hope Scr77 has given you two CCs that still work on a direct basis.

Yes, thanks cove & Scr77 but I'm specifically after a solution that doesn't require another hit on my credit rating, if there is one?

then there are no "cheap" alternatives.
best would be to either pay using your amex direct on the ato site, or look at www.rewardpay.com.au with a 2.4%+GST surcharge

both the above will result in a high-ish cost per point. see if you can justify it :)

Cove -> Its been a while since we've caught up. Can you please PM me the two CCs that still work on a direct basis. I would very much appreciate that :)

Got my shiny new BoM amplify visa Signature card. (Actually, it's a rather dull black...)
Anyone know whether payments to the ATO made with this card:
(1) Earn amplify points? (Seems like their terms exclude "government charges".)
(2) Count towards the $5,000 spend required to receive the 90,000 points for signup bonus?
Many thanks!

Use this card for all non Amex payments. ;)
