ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

DIY tax returns could result in some pretty awesome tax deductions where folks won’t use an accountant/tax agent due to the$3,000 limit proposed on deductibility.
I can start imagining stuff like.....
I had better claim the cost of that property I just bought.....
Girlfriend/Boyfriend expenses of dating........
I think the Tax Commissioner should be very afraid.

Dear RP Customer

In response to recent customer feedback regarding American Express points value changes, we are now pleased to announce a NEW rate structure, effective April 15th 2019.

The new RP rate structure will be as follows:

*Single payment amountRate %(+GST)**After Tax Rate
0 to < 20k2.15%1.51%
20k to < 100k2.1%1.47%
100K to < 300K1.95%1.37%
300K to <500K1.90%1.33%
500K to < 1M1.85%1.30%
1M+1.75%1.23%

* Discounts only apply to individual supplier payments. Any aggregated payments will not qualify for discount.
** Assumes tax rate of 30% and GST is claimed

Hmm slightly better than current rates, but realistically who would or can pay over 300k in a single transaction (to be better than ferni's option)?

I imagine that it would be a small proportion of payers who'd need to make transfers > $300K. It's a Claytons discount - the discount you give when you're not giving a discount.

Dragon direct, even via EBP would make more sense at 0.8% gross given the small earn differential.

Wonder how much of this has had to come out of their margin.

Yep, I am out with RWP. It's sad as it was a great service, but those fees! Especially with a glut of FF miles now, I am reluctant to invest real $ into a scheme whose value I have no control over.
I am glad I prepaid/overpaid certain institutions while it lasted.

I had two payments with EFT numbers that did not fit in the Easy Pay computer screen so I called my old girlfriend and paid them in one go because neither amount exceeded the $9 million odd limit. She didn’t let on anything about our relationship a decade ago when we were paying $10,000 a time.

I'm with the team that's going to dropkick RP.... but I suspect they will continue reviewing / dropping their fees in an attempt to keep their business afloat.

Why don’t RP accept m/c or visa? With a lower surcharge, there are cards that would be better value.

Hi guys, was searching for an easy way to hit minimum spend of my new CC and came across some interesting info in this thread. Was going to just use EBP to pay my rent but seems like there's a lot more I can do with these sorts of payment solutions.

Does someone mind pm'ing me what Dragon is? Thanks

We are ok because our tax rate is higher for our beneficiaries but it will hurt many struggling businesses where the beneficiaries tax rates are much lower.

Just been checking the NRL results from last weekend, I see the Bulldogs suffered a bad loss...

Well my guess is that their old business model was gaining them 1+% for themselves of every $ put through them.

They would not make that on MC/VISA. So they may just have yo go with a much lower profit margin or die...

Bankwest World has just over a month left on paying 0.66 points per dollar. I am definitely going to give that one a final shot before the door closes on May 21st. Sad times.....
