ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Just a quick question, could I use the same methods to pay for HECS as with the ato? Or are there more options, less restrictions. Just asking for my daughter as was looking at paying down some of hers early. Please PM me if there are better ways.

You should be able to use the same method(s) to pay HECS/HELP Debt as ATO.

I went to pay a company dividend and the tax credit for franking has dropped to 27.5% but our personal tax rate is still 47%. Naturally I was disappointed.
Anyway we are lucky that we are still doing ok so I am not really complaining.
I would like a thank you note from the fiscal fiend but it still hasn’t happened......

Have just completed the returns that were required to be filed by 31/03/2019. Gone are the days of filing 960 tax returns a year as that was 1983. Now many years later I use outside accountants to file with the fiscal fiend. I paid the taxes due on these tax returns on two favourite credit cards and seeing the credit cards had good credit balances I paid the quarterlies early so I don’t have to worry about them in April.

A little OT but anyone knows what is the best to pay for Land Tax to SRO VIC? Doesn't seem to have Eftpos barcode on the Assessment notice. If necessary, happy to be PM'd

I have 7 figures still to pay to the fiscal fiend and I should be grateful it isn’t 8 figures. This is what is left to pay over the next 2 months.
I really don’t need more Qantas nor Velocity points so I am thinking It will be Kris Miles for family to increase redemption opportunities.
I like to put Land Tax, Shire Rates and Water Rates into Kris Miles too as they are still pretty good for where we fly even though flight availability has tightened up.

BW now off the list as of 21st May 2019.
Whilst sad, the high surcharge the ATO charges for a MC (0.70%) means I had already stopped using this card for ATO payments (0.66 Qf pts per $ but changing in May to 1 Qf pt per $ for 1st $5000 then 0.5 pts per $.

Mrscove just printed the news for me to read. Ouch but lucky we have run up lots of QF points despite me having only a $12,000 credit limit. Mrscove got a credit limit more than 6 times mine.
This takes one more bit of fun out of paying ATO.

BankWest World will be off on May 21st so I am thinking of giving them a closing treat. The question of whether to use the titanium bladed 3M scissors has occurred to me. I just don’t like cards that pay zero on some of our spend.

I wouldn't be so sure just yet about Bankwest not working after 21 May. The info being sent out by BW specifically says there are no changes to the types of transactions that are eligible for earning points after this date. (The changes are to Qantas point earn rates and caps.) However, the ATO is now specifically listed as a type of transaction that doesn't earn points. So anything could happen, really.

I have been told in the past by BWW that government charges do not earn points, and then they go ahead and pay points anyway. So hopefully, a test of a few dollars by somebody who has a bill to pay soon.

Yes GMOH I would not suggest doing a big tester on BankWest on or after May 21st but it could still work at the lower earn rate.
We need a tester.
