Auckland QF J lounge is disgustingly filthy, worn out, and with s*^t food. Get it remodelled now Qantas!

So at least some people can get a guaranteed seat.
When it gets THAT full in the F shed, I’m more often then not perfectly happy to give up my precious seat and instead use my Priority Pass for the Strata lounge across.

It’s also a zoo, but at least there’s ample seats and quite a decent selection of hot food. Just make sure to down a glass of Lawson quickly before heading over :p

Not sure that would fix it. I was on QF 148 on Friday and the CSM mentioned the status of each passenger when greeting them and pretty much everyone in J was WP or above

I departed AKL yesterday (Saturday) and there were only eight premium pax split evenly between J and Y, 2 P1 and 6 Platinum. Some days of the week are much better for premium-lite flying :)

Having the EK departure to DPS at 1250 helps, I assume, reduce pax in the QF F and J lounges from mid-morning to lunchtime.

Yesterday was probably my last visit to AKL F. For the first time in a long time I have no NZ in my forward bookings with a shift to Asia and Europe instead. I'll be sad to see the QF lounge complex at AKL renovated to an upgraded QP but times change and we must with it. Oh dear there I go again drinking the Mascot Kool Aid.

The lounge is slated to be "Internationalised" such has been done at SIN, HKG & BNE. That announcement was made 10 months ago:

Until then I suspect little will change (nor will the Shower in the Men's be fixed).

Also I think you’ll find the AA AKL-LAX flight will go back to being year round, with Qantas codesharing. So maybe AA will throw some cash towards the upgrade.

Two more visits this week. First (Sunday arvo) was also fine, though got full just as the 15:45 SYD flight was called. The second on Friday arvo was an absolute zoo in the F section. I got one of the last seats. Many folk after didn’t. Not going to happen but I for one would be ok if the lounge access conditions for the ‘F’ section was more restricted (eg, CLs and P1’s; or WPs and above flying J).
Maybe the issue is that it’s too popular for those not flying on Qantas.

Aside from Brisbane, have any of these materialised?

Not sure that's the issue. While I obviously don't know for sure, I've rarely if ever seen any pax depart the F section when a CX, QR or FJ flight is called. Have seen some LA pax (well, including me) but again, not many.

I thought it was foreshadowed almost 4 years ago and basically every year since then it's been re-announced as on a 'priority to-do' list.

In the lounge now, relegated to the phone booth.
Lounge is packed due to a number of delayed flights.

The sign on the men's shower has been defaced.
Somebody is not too happy the shower still hasn't been fixed.

The “still” addition has been there for a fair while now and is perhaps telling of the lounge staffs thoughts on the state of the lounge (and the perhaps the absence of any Management visits to the lounge) that it has not been take down

I'd like to know in what way the Sydney International Business Lounge has an "upgrade underway". Nothing has changed.

That is like saying I am going to buy a new car but not for 5 years.

So I've got an award flight out of AKL, QF126 depart 16.25 in J. QF flight number, QF metal. If its this disgusting can I use the EK lounge.

Thanks

IIRC the Emirates lounge opens at 1630.

You can use the EK lounge if it is open.

At that time it will not be open.

OK thanks, I'm used to the olden days when there was a BNE, SYD and MEL flights all leaving late in the day. So what flight/s is it there for now during the arvo or evening

Currently for departures at 12:50pm and 8:30pm. (9:30am - 12:30pm and 4:30am-8:00pm)

What a waste of a big, nice lounge for just 2 flights a day:(
Indeed. And they just expanded it (added about 30-odd seats I think).

I'm hoping that if the QF lounges refurb ever gets started, the EK lounge will be opened and available for QF pax all day (or at least for the non-EK flight times). Sadly I suspect there's as much chance of that happening as there is QF severing the relationship with Neil Perry and providing decent food.
