I'm finally travelling international SYD-AKL this Thursday and back on Tuesday. Just wondering if anyone has flown this route recently and can advise if the Qantas lounge has reopened in Auckland yet given flights resumed some time ago now. If not, do we still have access to the Air NZ lounge prior to departure? I'm QF platinum flying business class.

Also, has express path reopened at Sydney airport with automatic passport gates on departure or is it still only manual passport processing like last year?

I can answer your second question, the automatic passport gates have been operating at SYD for several months now, I had them in trips in March and April. In late April, about half of the registration machines were broken which led to some lengthy queues to get your ticket, however there are some more machines just before the automatic gates that seemed to have shorter queues, so you could try your luck there.

flew 10 days ago AKL-BNE and able to access the NZ lounge. Flew J on a QF ticket. Rejected the ticket at the lounge but got waived straight through. Excellent egg and chive sandwich in the AirNZ lounge….

Flew out of AKL to BNE on Friday 20th. QF lounge is closed so you will have access to the ANZ lounge in AKL being a WP.
Keep an eye out for the sign after the smart gate where you can skip the duty free walk and pass down a corridor then up an escalator to the lounge.
Good luck getting a seat as this one of the few lounges open in AKL so gets very busy

Can confirm that the QF AKL lounge is still closed as well as Emirates & Strata lounges (was last Sunday afternoon). Air NZ Lounge staff advised that QF lounge should be reopened in July, hopefully. Air NZ lounge nice decor & busy but wasn't serving any hot food at all - don't know if this is normal but mixed sandwich plate was very popular.

I though the AKL lounge was being remodelled and the First section removed. Is there an update on that?

This hasn't happened yet.

Stephanie Tully was quoted as saying this in a Qantas press release this morning, regarding changes to the Auckland lounge:

“Frequent Flyers may notice a few differences in our Auckland lounge as we used the closure to give the space a refresh and introduce a barista coffee cart. We hope the new touches help make the pre-flight travel experience even more enjoyable.”

Thanks. Something top look forward to later.

I travelled Qantas from WLG on 20 June PM. Only the NZ lounge was available. I am sure it is getting smaller and the walls are closing in.

At some point the J lounge pax will want their coat closet back

But now I have heard the WLG Qanta lounge is open. Hurrah!

AKL QF Lounge (Invitation Only Business area) no longer serves Party Pies - was a zoo yesterday afternoon.

Do you mean the First lounge? Or is there a new invitation only business class section?
