Maybe I was wrong. Starc and Hazlewoods have both hit 4's and the partnership over 20.

Very very flashy, they're throwing the bat for sure, but every run is gold - especially now India pretty much have to match their first innings total on this deck :eek:

What a last wicket stand :D...stand and deliver would be apt ;)

Partnership :36 runs, 6.3 overs, RR: 5.68 (JR Hazlewood 17, MA Starc 14)

93.2
Wicket
Bumrah to Starc, OUT, bowled him! The change of angle works. Fast spearing into the top of off stump and he is stuck on the crease flailing at it, beaten for sheer pace and it cannons into the top of off
MA Starc b Bumrah 14 (29b 3x4 0x6) SR: 48.27

Now Australia lead by 286 runs. Let's keep the good record intact

Bet the bowlers ran off the pitch to get their hands on the new ball.

Well that’s good.

287 to win. At least it’s a competition and there’ll be a result one way or the other. 9 hours of play to come

Yessir....:)

Wicket
Starc to Rahul, OUT, chopped on! He tried to leave and didn't withdraw the bat in time! It ricochet's onto the stumps! It was a good length inwinger, fifth stump line, he tried to leave but left the bat dangling, it hit the bottom edge and cannoned into the stumps!
KL Rahul b Starc 0 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Well, what a start :D

I think this is a massive wicket....wow, what a wicket to have to bat on for the 4th innings. 243 looking good from the Aussies :D

3.5
Wicket
Hazlewood to Pujara, OUT, caught behind! Another brute! This was a superb delivery. Again a good length outside off and he gets steep bounce, Pujara plays from the crease, it flicks the bottom glove as he fends at it, it flies through to Paine who takes the simple catch.
CA Pujara c †Paine b Hazlewood 4 (11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 36.36

2/13

Now will Kohli's bat do the talking again??

Wicket has come to life all of a sudden. We'll go to Melbourne all square. Can't see any other result unless the weather plays a part.

Unless the BOM has got their forecasts horribly wrong, I don't think the weather will come into play...

Agreed.

The thing with this pitch is even if you've been there a while, a ball can just jump at you or burn along the ground. Take Khawaja, he was going along pretty well and then got an absolute rip snorter that just jumped at him and there's no way you can get your hands away; or then coughmins dismissal, a worm burner that no batsmen would keep out.

The wicket was always full of life but only the Indians seemed able to exploit it.

Finally some spirit shown by the Australians, let's hope it continues, interesting evening ahead.

Yet the Aussies bowled them out for less in the first innings??..??
Sure but look at which team did the most ducking and weaving so as not to be hit by the ball. The session yesterday afternoon as an example.

Fox sports just had the stump mic turned up and this was Tim Paine's comment to Rahane, "I know he's your captain, but you seriously can't like him as a bloke".

Definitely no love lost between captains.

Didn't get them very far though. ;) Don't understand the decision to go into match without spinner. Lyon took 5 in first innings and has Kohli in second innings.

It’s good that the Aussies are emerging from the Warner malaise and starting to ‘comment’ more but with someone who’s a bit nastier than Paine how it could get very personal. Again.
