India to Bat 1st (and based on history, most likely crush us with that toss win)

Australia XI
o_Oo_O (top 6 anyhow)
Marcus Harris
Usman Khawaja
Marnus Labuschagne
Shaun Marsh
Travis Head
Peter Handscomb
Tim Paine (c,wk)
Pat coughmins
Mitch Starc
Nathan Lyon
Josh Hazlewood

Got cricinfo bubbling along as I work...

A couple of interesting points from cricinfo:

Austin Waugh, son of Steve, has been named one of Australia's emergency fielders.

and

"Why are the players wearing black armbands?" -- Australia in memory of Bill Watson, the former Australia batsman, and India in memory of Ramakant Achrekar, who was Sachin Tendulkar's coach.

YESSSSSSSS

1.3
Wicket
Hazlewood to Rahul, OUT, taken at first slip! Rahul's horror run continues.
KL Rahul c Marsh b Hazlewood 9 (6b 2x4 0x6) SR: 150.00

1/10.

Finally, a mainstream journo calls out the selectors, good read from Gideon Haigh

Tradition lost by a secret knock on the door

Edit: There's another by Peter Lalor yesterday as well, but I'm stuck behind a paywall,
That’s paywalled too.

We were just talking about this. I darent say who with. If they are picking on squeaky clean image (ergo no Maxwell) then they cannot then go ahead and pick Warner.

:D I know Thomas Reeh, what a small world. Funny story and nicely handled by the security guard.

Missed the 2nd wicket:

33.6
Wicket
Lyon to Agarwal, OUT, Lyon has bought a wicket for his team here, just shortened his length a tad as Agarwal skipped down once more, was again not the pitch of the ball but like on two previous occasions, decides to go with the shot, doesn't get the distance this time and an easy catch for Starc at long-on
MA Agarwal c Starc b Lyon 77 (112b 7x4 2x6) SR: 68.75

Now Kohli is in. Expect some good natured sledging from the Aussies. I loved the upshot of the Tim Paine sledge about Pant.

Stump-mic fantasy comes true as Pant turns Paine's babysitter

Pujara giving a batsmans' welcome to Labuschagne's first over  (3 balls hit for 4's). Got what they deserved though - half trackers.

Tea called with India 2/177. This could be a long first couple of days...

Finally found the edge of Kohli's bat - in the first over after tea:

52.5
Wicket
Hazlewood to Kohli, OUT, guess what! They have got Kohli caught down the leg side, that's twice in two innings. Was short of length, down the leg side, Kohli looked to work it fine, the ball hits the gloves and Paine takes a tumbling catch. The game has opened up once again
V Kohli c †Paine b Hazlewood 23 (59b 4x4 0x6) SR: 38.98

3/180. Swinging back to a draw

But he’s a nice chappie though....

Meanwhile over in NZ, they've had a good day against Sri Lanka (especially James Neesham who hit 45 off the last 2 overs of the day  )

Of course, on the presumption that our batsmen could have batted as well as the Indians have - plus their bowlers having to bowl equal to, or worse, than ours. I wouldn't take odds on either of those outcomes.

On the comeback?

70.2
Wicket
Starc to Rahane, OUT, a snorter of a delivery! A bouncer, angling in towards the batsman from around the stumps, puts Rahane in a tangle, he looks to sway away, takes the bottom off but the ball bounces a touch extra, brushes the top glove and Paine takes a good overhead catch
AM Rahane c †Paine b Starc 18 (55b 1x4 0x6) SR: 32.72

4/228

Love to have won the toss.
Again.

I agree. This is not a strong Aussie team and to lose the toss 3 out of 4 certainly hasn't helped. Good/great teams can overcome things in a lot of sports but this cricket team hasn't got that ability

Starc to Pujara, FOUR runs, full on leg, and clipped away to the fine-leg boundary! Races away and that's hundred for Pujara! Third of the series, 18th in all Tests

Pujara raises his bat to applause from all corners of the ground. Kohli on his feet too.

Pujara should be bastman of the Series...

Depending on whst Bumrah does, Pujara has to be favourite for the POS award.

Agreed, at the moment Bumrah has had much better figures than coughmins, Starc, Hazlewood or Lyon (after the first 3 Tests)

Bumrah: 3/47, 3/68, 2/53, 3/39, 6/33, 3/53 = 20 wickets for 293 runs
Shami: 2/58, 3/65, 0/80, 6/56, 1/27, 2/71 = 14 wickets for 357 runs
Sharma: 2/47, 1/48, 4/41, 1/45, 1/41, 2/40 = 11 wickets for 262 runs

Lyon: 2/83, 6/122, 5/67, 3/39, 1/110, 0/40 = 17 wickets for 461 runs
coughmins: 2/49, 0/55, 1/60, 2/25, 3/72, 6/27 = 14 wickets for 288 runs
Starc: 2/63, 3/40, 2/79, 3/46, 2/87, 0/11 = 12 wickets for 326 runs
Hazlewood: 3/52, 1/43, 2/66, 2/24, 1/86, 2/22 = 11 wickets for 293 runs

I think that says it all...

With 3 overs remaining in todays play, looks like Vihari wants to make it to 50, based on his last 3 overs...or at least get India to 300 for the day.
