Then you need to understand the use of emoji's to express yourself better then ;)

Nah, that's off-topic, I'll let that one go through to the keeper :D
See, it’s not just me then, is it :p

I know the selectors have copped grief in the past for not fronting the media and explaining their decisions.
So, kudos for Hohns for doing that this time.
But, it did remind me of the saying "Sometimes it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt".
Some comical stuff going on, especially around Maxwell and Wade.
JL getting "cranky" and losing his rag interesting as well.
Pressure is on.

Several Issues spring to mind re current Australian cricket team.

We no longer have the once in generation players, ie warne, mcgrath, gilchrist ponting, hayden. No longer have the talent in shed, no disrespect to current players - how many years did it take for lehmann and hussey to break into team.

The Sheffield shield was a good breeding ground to develop players as the test players usually played couple of games prior to first test in brisbane. so younger players played with and against top shelf players. now we have a disjointed preparation with couple of shield games then big bash- right in the middle of test series, so no red ball form. then back to red ball in late january.
we should either have smaller big bash at start of season or end ie around australia day. have full compliment of shield surrounding test matches, so injury or form you have players playing red ball cricket.

I will give selectors some credit- harris looks good. Now the bad- what a way to treat renshaw - tours india - plays pretty well - did get sick, not selected south africa tour . gets flown in with burns to south africa after sandpaper gate to face a top quality south african attack for one test and no preparation.
tours uae but got concussion and then dropped for india here and they pick finch who doesn't open is shield cricket. wheres little bit of loyalty esp after on going issues with sandpaper and cricket reviews. how many chances did the marsh brothers receive in comparison .

Picking the youngster from vic in squad good bold decision- dont know if he will play but having him in squad could be good introduction prior to potential england tour.

I would not pick warner ever again - he was lead part of the pay dispute and instigator of sandpaper - i think he is toxic in the dressing room and would undo the work Australia have done to change our image.

Would pick smith almost immediately - bancroft needs to play some shield cricket and possibly some english county cricket before reselction esp if renshaw/harris opening partnership goes well, bat burns at 4/6.

so test team v sri lanka
renshaw
harris
khawaja
burns
head - needs some more consistent runs
labuschagne socred 38 india - little bit faith/pucovski - could be bold gamble
paine
coughmins - lower middle order alrounder
starc - variety - needs some wicktes
lyon - picks himself
hazelwood/siddle

Tell 11 selected they will play both tests against sri lanka regardless unless injury.

I don't know the state of the wicket, but this doesn't exactly show a few of them sticking their hands up, saying 'pick me'!

Not surprising considering there's a number of them coming straight out of Big Bash with the flat as wickets and non-swinging balls, to a lively green Hobart deck and a hooping pink ball. So while the returns aren't great, it's one innings, and you've still got to take into account their first class returns over the past season and a bit (and while Renshaw has had a lean start to the Shield season, he absolutely piled on the runs in County cricket).

Apart from Wade & Maxwell (who look to be on the black list now), I'm still not sure how Patterson is never mentioned in selection talks, and he just keeps plugging along with pretty good shield returns.

So the conditions are playing a major part, maybe that will taken into consideration, as I said I was unaware of the conditions down there. Are they using a "duke" ball as well?

Well Patterson and Doran seem to have taken their chance, all in all quite a good recovery.

And now the Brisbane Heat lose McCullum and Lynn to be 2/8, and swiftly kick out the light plug at the Gabba to stop the game.
Uncanny. :p
Or is there a blackout due to too many Qlders overloading their fridges with xx_X Gold in these warm conditions
Schoolboy stuff, game stopped cos the lights have gone, like a country town :D

A part, probably not a major part though, there were still some average shots involved - Burns throwing his hands at one wide outside off (with a very good catch in the slips) reeked of BBL mindset that he was only playing a few days ago.

I know it's been said ad nauseam, but our scheduling really needs some tweaking.

Agree, been the case for ages, gets tricky for administrators, and players, when the bash stuff is where all the $$$ are pouring in.
Unfortunately.

And those shield players who don’t get a BBL contract play no cricket other than district right over summer. It’s crazy.

We have day 4 and day 5 tickets to Lords in 2019.
Australia needs to pick a few players who can bat or we will not see much play.

Lords is so small that anyone receiving a ticket is very lucky.

Yes we didn’t get the same offer as last time for Lords. We are long term WACA members in Perth so we have reciprocal rights.

I reckon you might be fine at Lord's, that is if it plays to its 'normal' conditions. Those with tickets to the later days on the other grounds may be biting their nails, although there is no Edgbaston this time around which is certainly a plus for the Australian team!!!

We are members of SACA. Our tour to Lords was a last minute decision. We left a lot of unnecessary items at home to lighten the wallets. Including the SACA card which of course we could have used to get entry into The Pavilion. We did go through there on a tour and saw the Long Room but no photos allowed. But we could have stayed in the members grandstand instead of just the tour.

I did a trip report here on the Tour and we were allowed to go into the Media ‘sputnik’ and as there was a county match on at the time, we were able to see how the media was set up for reporting. Amazing view from up there. Shame it’s not exactly attractive.

And yes. It was raining. But play started shortly after.

Patterson added to Test squad In-form Patterson added to Test squad

Well, who couldn't see that coming. He was unlucky to miss out first time round, so not surprised after his Hobart innings. I am surprised that they released a Test squad a fortnight out form a series though when they had a tour match 'trial' just before it though!!
