Australian Cricket Season 2024-2025

Maybe someone can explain it, but I don't actually quite understand why the Gabba isn't hosting any tests beyond 2025/26 - it kinda seems like it's due to deteriorating infrastructure?

It's a pretty iconic venue and Queensland usually turns out for the big test matches, so its a bit confusing
Just a plot by the Gabba trust to get billions from government for redevelopment? :(

So hard to organise a gaggle of women, accom and what my wife would want to do (which of her many unfinished projects).

Bring on the Ashes 2025!
Well they have indeed been brought on !

It’s a Day Night for the Gabba

Season over in early January! The "Christmas test" is awkwardly crammed in. 5 tests in less than 7 weeks. Why the rush bruh?

Presumably to get low reward test cricket out of the way before the lucrative US T20 and Indian Premier league games.

The Ashes is low reward? Plenty of time to run the tour from early Nov to Australia Day and create a few tour/ODI/T20 matches too.

It's the same rush with this years five test series.
No wonder we need to rotate bowlers and get injuries.
Old enough to remember when test cricket started late October and finished first week of February.

Absolutely @ols. We're never going back to those days unfortunately, despite the apparent "pinnacle" status of red ball cricket.

Interesting to see who opens with Khawaja now. Harris?

I reckon Bancroft deserves the chance. Konstas hopefully develops and takes over from Khawaja.

I mean low reward for the players wrt other comps. Personally I prefer test cricket as the only "proper" cricket rather than the baseball varieties but we seem to be in the minority these days..

One of the worst attended tests in Australia. Brisbane attendances have been bordering on pathetic. Not quite Perth levels of poor but nowhere near good enough. Personally I’d take away the Brisbane and Perth test and give them to Adelaide and Melbourne 🤣

That’s the requirement for the World Test championship points table. Play at least 2 Tests against every nation in each rotation

Not quite.
In each rotation you play 6 series. 3 home and 3 away.
So far we have played
England away
Pakistan home
West Indies home
New Zealand away

We finish with
India home
Sri Lanka away

We don’t play South Africa or Bangladesh this rotation
