New local case in QLD, believed to be connected to the DFO cluster but wasn't in isolation (it's not actually linked yet).
She works at the Brisbane watchhouse.

That's it, New South Wales needs shut down our border with Queensland, the risk of disease transmission is far too high, to say nothing of another OzFest being held in Brisbane (the only thing worse would be holding it in Canberra, a city whose main attraction is a large administrative building).
Joking aside, why on earth are they revealing the identity of this case. I can understand wanting to identify the case location and date but doesn't revealing such information run afoul of privacy laws?
Why the hell is Queensland mixing interstate and international hotel quarantine? Who did the risk assessment on that?
I mean from a risk standpoint they're about the same. Both sets of travellers are coming from areas where there is widespread community transmission of COVID.
No it isnt wrong for Pfizer. Over 40s were able to register for standby list since 3rd week of May (as I did, only qualifier dob) . Then in second week of June this changed to being able to book directly without wait list. And more hospitals have opened up each week.
I was invited to book from wait list in last week of May, patiently waiting for my appointment but friends who were tardier and booked in June at a hospital rather than Olympic Park have got earlier appointments.
If you are over 40 in NSW (in fact every sate and territory) you can absolutely book to get Pfizer now. Walkins are a different matter.
Meanwhile, for AstraZeneca it's a whole other story. If you're willing to get the jab, you can walk up today and get one. I'm still dismayed that the government has done everything in its power to downplay the importance of AstraZeneca, to the point of saying only the elderly who should be put on an ice floe and sent to Antarctica should get it.
Vic has made Canberra an Orange zone - let’s destroy any last bits of tourism that weren’t already dead….
You're absolutely right, having never been to Canberra (and hopefully never having to go there), I can certainly understand the appeal of wanting to get away from the dull dreary landscape that is the greater Canberra area and visit more hospitable climes like Sydney or Melbourne. Heck, I suppose many Canberrans would even stoop to visiting Perth for a week. Anything to avoid having to stare at Parliament House for a week will do!
Canberra tourism is taking a bit of a beating due to Sydney people not being allowed to travel here, so this won’t help.
Yes it will recover. Hope by Floriade everything is OK again.
Respectfully disagree with your assessment. Canberra tourism has taken a beating since Parliament House was there, arguably the only attraction most Australians can think of when having to name something...anything in Canberra! Canberra the only city that makes Perth look good
