35 locally acquired cases in NSW overnight

9 were infectious in the community.

Plus 3 were infectious for part of their infectious period. So 12 in total.

Queensland delayed their presser until 1200. In the past they’ve done that because they want to see the NSW numbers (possible border closure) but could also mean extension of Brisbane lockdown.

Either way it’s unlikely to be good news.

2/3rds already in isolation, 6 only briefly in community and a half dozen or so out while infectious. So better than it might seem at first look.
Do you have the daily numbers of those out in the community over the last week and what direction are they trending?
Will probably give some sort of idea as to any further restrictions required

The discernable trend has been more becoming infectious while in isolation, less while out in community. So heading in the right direction.

You've stated before that short lockdowns are for contract tracers to catch up. Maybe they're confident that they have.

But when the number of new cases with no clear link is more than when you locked down, that makes no sense at all.

QLD CHO did it explain it though, apparently it's how she feels about the risk. So not an exact science at all.

Depends how they all “feel” on the day. Actually that explains things then.

I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to see a specialist outside scheduled appointments just to get OK to take vaccine.

Well that is your choice, but why should everyone else stay locked down because you choose to take 6 months (I was proposing another 3 months on top of the 3 months you have already had) to take action?

And if the outcome is you cant get vaccinated, do you think its fair to keep others who have been vaccinated restricted? There are many other virus'and diseases circulating which would be of concern to you.

She cant be that confident though since they are encouraging all over 70s not to go out.

McGowan was commenting on NSW in his pressers, predicting Sydney will be locked down for weeks and week (possibly months), and disputing that Gladys didnt want to reduce caps. He had the gall to say that Gladys speaking out aginst the caps wasnt "the Australian way". He needs to stick to commenting on WA.

Good that the lockdown has been lifted.

But 5 new local cases with some of them unlinked and/or causing concern. The highest number of local cases since March.

I’m not sure the Queensland Government understands lockdowns.
Neither does the business community. Furniture stores open in Brisbane today.... really????? How is it essential?

If the state doesnt specify they cant open they will.

If your fridge or heater is broken, it probably is essential you repalce them today. However, if you have no essential need to shop then very easy to stay away/home.

The trend is a decreasing proportion in the community, but the number is quite similar.

Anecdotally there are still some out during school holidays in their local park/beach (exercise) eating and drink takeaway in said park/beach, And lots of essential shopping?!?!

NSW Government will have to send signals to extending this lockdown....more use of the disappointing to come over the next 3-4 days, then if that number/proportion does come to none in community while infectious, then Wednesday announce an extension.

I don't see that. During the long Melbourne lockdown last year, furniture shops were closed except for click and collect etc.

I was at the shops in Bundaberg yesterday and coming from Melbourne, it was a little shocking. No masks, no social distancing as far as I could see. Couldn't find check in barcodes at half of the shops I visited. Disappointed given the situation only 200kms from here.
