Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Clearly we are seeing a lot of lax attitudes to quarantine, isolation, what is essential work, rule breaking etc etc all over Australia.

Which is why there is HQ for people returning from overseas.

Logistically impossible though to do anything different for local positives and close contacts.

But still p###ed off if you are vaccinated, from a place with low levels of transmission, have no known contacts with cases in previous 3 weeks, and test negative prior to departure and it’s 2 weeks in HQ, meanwhile it’s possible there are dozens of positive cf cases and hundreds of close contacts allowed to isolate at home in suburbs surrounding. Waste of resources!

Hope that is true, as I will win todays work covid lotto. All my colleagues betting on higher numbers, I predicted a reduction albeit not a very big one.
The wording used was 'well under' 100, but typically the wording alludes to a range of 10. So maybe 91...but possibly lower.

The Craigieburn Coles is presumably related to the Craigieburn family ?

But of course one day's numbers are less important then the trend or 7 day average which will still be increasing. However a lower number gives us some hope.
I think the tests taken on Sunday are then tested on Sunday night, which will be after the Sunday 8pm cutoff for Monday 11am announcement, today will be an announcement for Sunday's collections results

Does that sound right?

89 cases.

New Health order anyone from Fairfield LGA has to get a covid test every 3 days in order to be allowed to leave to go to essential work.

Would I be right in saying that the Ballan sites are the only ones relating to the removal truck?

Not sure that's going to be a great help if they travel to a regional area to work on a construction site!

NSW: Key numbers from today's figures

  • 89 new locally acquired infections
  • 75 of which are linked to a known case or cluster
  • 59 are household contacts
  • 16 are close contacts
  • The source of 14 cases remains under investigation
  • 55 cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period
  • Nine cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period
  • 21 cases were in the community while infectious <--- this is the number that needs to come down
  • 49,055 tests in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday

That plus the apartments (that was where the furniture was moved at ) are yes the likely links.

Dr Chan : Of the patients in ICU, there are patients including younger patients who had no underlying issues prior to catching Covid.

Well apart from HQ/Covid workers this is new testing regime.

This mandatory testing will force people to get tested who otherwise seem inclined to ignore symptoms and not bother. It will pick up more cases, and some before they get symptoms.

If you look at the numbers South West Sydney haven't been testing enough and have been breaking the gathering rules more. Obviously NSW Health feel a need to come down harder on people moving out of Fairfield.

And there is another requirement for anyone going to regional areas of weekly testing.

I wonder how the community leaders will react in Fairfield to this latest restriction… they were pretty antsy about being singled out over last few days….

Also - There still is no decision on what is and isn’t essential work from the NSW government.

Some of my relatives live in Fairfield area. I will call them to see how they are doing .....

The numbers don't lie, health have to focus on the source of growth, its not a matter of unfair focus, its where the efforts need to be.

Some of my colleagues live in Fairfield, one said her BIL is a covid denier, this will keep people like him home.
