Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes, I've always received a copy of what was submitted/requested along with the GP bill (no bulk billing) and also a copy of the results. But the GP practice I've gone to has nurses onsite that take bloods and give vaccines and then send samples to St Vincent's for processing.

I've never had to go to a pathology office perse.
None of those are receipts for the sample taken. You make my point.

The copy of the request does include a sample reference, a sticker goes on the sample, duplicate stickers goes on the form and pateint copy. So no I did not make your point.

Anyway as long as the NSW test sites provide the required evidence (paper, sms or email) to people being tested in NSW to support the NSW health orders, it really matters not what happens in WA.

Unless you want to go there.

We are talking about how to prove you have been tested in NSW to comply with the latest health orders so not sure why wanting to travel to WA is relevant (plus there is a hard border, so couldnt even if we wanted to).

After the creepy McGowan unmasking video I’m not sure I would want to go there again anyway… that was scary.

WOW. Hazzard. What is an "essential" worker or not is left to the employer!
Unfortunately the only other option is Victoria's which after multiple renditions and days of debate ended up with 40+ categories that had more holes than Swiss cheese.

And would clearly have allowed a worker in a government project to travel from Melbourne to the regions.

Whereas NSW is asking employers to apply some common sense, and strongly suggesting that shouldn't happen.

I agree not “excellent” but this man has indeed behaved criminally. He was in quarantine! If he turned out to be positive on his day 11 test, covid could by then have spread from tradies to their families. What message would have been sent otherwise? You and everybody else in quarantine in future just ignore instructions and mix as much as you like, perhaps spreading illness, but that’s fine!

He may have been in quarantine, but I’d say most here would agree forcing someone to quarantine when coming from Brisbane is unreasonable. He didn’t go out on the town, he had a few tradies over (probably 15 by the sounds of it).

As I said, this is now a life ruined for what? He presented as close to zero risk to then community as one could.

Fine people… maybe. But to make this a criminal matter on laws that have been rushed in without the usual review and consultation leads down an extremely slippery slope.

He chose to break the law on 15 occasions and therefore he chose to ruin his life. No sympathy at all. If he had no food and left once to get food, sympathy, understanding and leniency then. 15 clear and conscious choices to partake in discretionary activities is an entirely different matter.

Is the law reasonable? Do we really want state premiers just making things up as they go along? Queensland has no house of review, for example, so it’s a very dangerous precedent.

A 'house of review' may or may not make a difference... for example if the government controls both houses, or if there are mechanisms in place to break a deadlock where both houses can't agree. There are other checks and balances, including the opposition, media, the electorate and courts.

The Court passed the sentence, following sentencing guidelines. The person may have the opportunity to appeal if they wish.

What model do you think Sydney needs at the moment?

Or NSW comes up with its own list.

Letting the employer decide also means that every self-employed person decides whether their work/trip is essential or not. Which based on all the posts on tradies on this forum, and on twitter, would indicate that they are erring on the side of work as normal as they can.

It also really allows virtually anyone to tell the police if pulled up that they are an essential worker.

The more people mix, the more the virus can jump from person to person.

So it really gets down to how much NSW Health and NSW Gov wants to reduce the level of mixing.

According to covidlive, there are 118 under investigation, I'm guessing NSW contact tracing are now swamped but does anyone have any idea when they might revise number (ie complete the investigation) and publish the information?

Probably a few days. But with the amount of cases now being generated there is highly likely to be persistent mystery cases now. At least QLD dropped its obsession with mystery cases and border clocks late last year :)

No simple answer. Both ways have disadvantages and can be hard to enforce or interpret.

And NSW Police are checking.. from a post on Whirlpool forums that ended in some anti-police posts.

Interesting anecdote my wife just relayed to me on how this is more-or-less being enforced right now. In her group chat with her co-workers (she is a midwife, works with sick/prem babies – pretty specialised and you would reckon “essential” in most people’s minds) one of them had just related what happened to her on her way home last night – leaving evening shift (so maybe 11:30pm) driving between work (in a not-a-hotspot suburb) to her home (also in a not-a-hotspot suburb).

She was pulled over by highway patrol and told to justify why she was out in her car. Nurse, in uniform, with hospital id, by herself in her car. Told the officer she was on her way home from her shift. Showed the officer her phone with her ServiceNSW check-in/out for the shift. Not good enough. The officer then got the phone number for the night supervisor at the hospital, called and verified she was indeed working and on her way home. And only then did he say “ok you can go, no fine”.

Not ideal, right?

The one word “construction” on any list is a reason for 282,000 people to be out of the home in greater Sydney, 422,000 for health care and social assistance (pretty essential that one)
