Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

If we are going to get there it will likely be through education and communication, rather than ridicule.

Totally agree. And by presenting facts, I’ve been attacked at length (including being called a pig). We certainly seem a long way away from any form of acceptance of the truth (and that’s not just on this forum - society as a whole is worse). I fear for those who may not have a business/marriage/future on the other side.

I know he spent some of his quarantine in hospital, but SA only changed the rules late last week to say that those who have completed HQ in NSW would then have to do 14 days home quarantine on arrival in SA. Prior that it wasn't required which is a pretty standard arrangement.
But being in a public hospital is very different to being in quarantine so those days should have started again when he got back here. Seems like a work experience mistake.

No, but probably something worth considering when half of the country is under lockdowns even Stalin couldn’t have dreamed of.

Correct; Stalin didn't do lockdowns, he had a more ... direct and pemanent style to deal with problems :( (here's a refresher). Lets keep things in perspective, eh?

I think its a bit off that commentary from one thread is being conflated into another. Some here may have no idea of the context.

So just to be clear, the 'fact' that saw you labelled as that seems more to resemble an opinion, than a fact.

we've had are three deaths, two of whom were well above the expected age of passing so really don't count for much

Hopefully… here in my COVID free Inner West I did witness the poor Council gardener getting abused by a coronacrazie who didn’t think he should be at work, so there’s still plenty out there.
Sydney Inner West is no so COVID free: a few places of concern are at Summer Hill.

If you think vaccination is the answer, have a look at the UK now. Held up as the shining light wrt vaccinations - and also 55,000 new cases yesterday.

Cases are not relevent to me, in Australia or the UK. People who get very sick (hospitalised) from covid only are.
Vaccination is definitely part of the armoury but the UK have been just stupid, no social distancing, no masks anywhere. And they are still nowhere near 100% vaccination.

Guess we will find out soon enough but something must be on the cards. Some of our casual staff have been temporarily stood down and we have been informed Marshall is potentially calling a 8:30am presser.

I’m not going to continue arguing, but that position is simply fact. Two 90 year olds dying cannot count as a genuine COVID death and we cannot be basing policy on this.

In Australia virtually all Covid deaths are indeed covid deaths.Whether the person would have lived much longer is a different question.
Unfortunately other countries have different policies. In Sweden anyone who dies within 30 days of a positive covid test is counted as a covid death. In the UK it is within 28 days. Also a little over 10% of posted covid deaths in the UK are because it was on the Death Certificate whether or not there was evidence of a covid test.
A doctor can say they made a clinical diagnosis of a covid infection because of the symptoms.Mostly however it could be due to many other diseases.

I think that's right.

If you have tested positive for covid within the previous 28 days, the assumption is that covid contributed to the death. That is, but for the covid infection, the patient would likely have still been alive. You need to have a cut off date otherwise it is possible the comorbidity may have been the cause of death rather than covid.

Not neccessarily so.In the NWRH cluster the elderly who died mostly got covid when in hospital because of their other illnesses. So you can't really say that all of them neccessarily would have left hospital alive if they hadn't got covid.Remember they were all over 80 and had at least 3 co morbidities.

10am press conference. Four cases. All close contacts of the 81 year old man. Line ups are huge at Wayville with people lining up from 9.30pm last night only being tested now. This kind of thing is not acceptable. People going out of their way to do the right thing.

I read somewhere last night that there was a national agreement that people returning to home state from quarantine did not have to do state quarantine. Annoyingly the fact this man spent those last 10 days in a public hospital seems to have been placed in the same position which it surely isn't. It's not even clear that he is Australian or PR but rescued by his family in Adelaide due to extreme ill health. But was able to visit places.

Yes here.
"The pair arrived in SA on Thursday July 8. Under federal law, international travellers have no internal travel restrictions after serving quarantine in their port of arrival.

They visited various locations, possibly together, across Adelaide’s north east."

Living in an apartment complex seems like it's masks here at home.

10am press conference.

😂 now I don't know whether to go into work this morning and possibly get sent home, or relax at home and wait to see if I am sentenced to detention at 10am. I didn't actually have to appear at work in person till 1.30 today.

Luckily I bought toilet paper last week.

Same quandary in this household. 9am appointment in city, a longish way to go in and come back. No message from client, a Govt Dept. What's the odds? Need to go empty the PO Box at Kent Town though. Has to be a lockdown doesn't it? Twitchy fingers and all that. Let's just hope no one went to the crowded footy at the weekend, always such a risk but what would I know?

My understanding is that there was some concern over the exposure sites last night and the 4th case I mentioned. Seems like Case 4 was in isolation and after sleeping on it those in charge might be a bit more relaxed (one can hope)
