So we are talking about no consumption outside cafes and no playgrounds, despite supermarkets and fast food being open and kindergarten/child care still open too in Vic.

Doesn't make much sense. But also shows how difficult/impossible this may be to contain
no I'm not saying that in anyway as I've heard some meet up in supermarket also.
It's just a minor loophole for those in need to see & talk to a friend/family, can be healthy for the mental health aspect.

Golf courses as they are closed were an absolute hotspot for catachups, sorry walk the dog, and plenty golf courses in South-East Melbourne within 5km.

slightly off thread topic.

When SA goes into lockdown the playgrounds are closed and takeaway only meaning that it can't be consumed hanging around outside. The weather in SA is so disgusting today that no one will be walking around.

NSW - no vaccinated patients in ICU. Get vaccinated.

I think Kindergarten and child care open is some sort of an admission from the authorities that children in the early stages of education cannot miss much/any more schooling than entirely necessary after last year (in VIC).

Coworker has two bubs in daycare. Apparently they do not have to go and they wont be charged BUT if the parents choose to stay home with the kids, the parents will lose their set number no charge absences they are allowed (ie when kids are genuinely sick).

So its a win lose choice for them. Stay home now with healthy children and not be charged but later on/after lockdown, if your child is actually sick/stays home you will be charged because you used up your no charge days from this lockdown.

They could be in for the long haul if they don’t increase restrictions or clamp down

Of most concern in NSW is the mounting number of mystery cases = contact tracing increasingly losing control, missing chains of transmission and the fact so many are still moving around when they test positive.

These two things combined mean there is still not enough control over the outbreak in place.

Premier refusing to concede that point. Apparently it's the people being interviewed that are at fault.

NSW Premier notes the cases are now increasingly those doing critical things like critical work and essential shopping.

More spill over when Fairfield % of total local cases is dropping

.......Sydney looks like it needs a tougher set of restrictions. Not sure Sydney can wait until Friday/Saturday/Sunday for the numbers come through.

I know the size of cities makes it far more harder but over here in our current lockdown our employees carry a exemption letter in case being randomly pulled over by police. I was pulled over last night on way home and all good. People are encouraged to “Dob in” neighbours and police are actively out and about in suburbia.
it’s obviously not working so time to get the big stick out

If that actually is true then the most draconian lockdown we have ever seen in Australia is coming…. I’m not even sure that is possible?

I struggle to see NSW getting back to even single digits......I feel bad for Glady's as she was the premier premier IMO, but now she's been wiped by Delta.
Seems to be getting the better of efforts made, I wonder where to go from here, how it'll eventuate??
Vaccine to all yes, but that's a slow process.

I'd really like to hear more health services opinions from hospitals in NSW, on how they think they'll cope if things get little worse.

Bit over some continual rambling opinions (inlcuding my own).

Curfew, further restrictions on exercise and businesses. Along with extra police presence and enforcement it’s possible

Vic Presser:

Foley:

5 cases in hospital. 1 in ICU (No change to either total)

2 cases that were in the community.
  • 1 only had a single petrol station exposure
  • The other was an AAMI Park exposure with 1 day infectious in the community- exposure sites were the Prahran Market ones.
Reinforced that the 14 day quarantine period is very important as some people have not become positive early on, but later.

That explains why the entirety of Prahran Market has been designated as a Tier 1 site then.

New Guy?

Case today : Returned from regional Vic travelled return home to get tested on learning that they were at contact from an exposure site. Due to this was very cautious at the fuel stop, and made sure that they had not other possible exposures.

New pop up vaccination to target homeless and disadvantaged people. These will only do say 40 per day, but will pick up people who otherwise would not get vaccinated. These will move from site to site, and will included people who have worked with homeless people and can relate to them.

Jeroen:
New cases:
  • 7 to Trinity Grammar
  • 6 Ms Frankies
  • 2 Philip Island cluster
  • 5 St Patricks
  • 1 MCG houseld contact
  • 2 Mildura
  • 2 City of Hume Household
  • 1 AAMI Park
Cases are testing positive at over a week after exposure

So test and release from isolation is not a good idea for anyone with a known exposure.
